If you are reporting something that went wrong, these three things turn
a report into a fix:
1. Your device and iOS version (Settings > General > About)
2. The app version (Laundry Window > Settings > About)
3. The place you were looking at, and roughly what time
WHAT THE APP DOES
Laundry Window tells you whether to hang the washing out - now, later
today, or on a better day this week - by working out how fast a load
would actually dry in the weather forecast for your location.
COMMON QUESTIONS
It's sunny. Why does it say don't put it out?
Because sunshine is only one of three things that dry washing. The
others are how dry the air is and how much wind is moving across the
line. A bright, still, humid day can dry worse than a breezy grey one,
and the app is telling you about the day as a whole, not the sky.
Open the "Drying speed today" strip to see the hour-by-hour reasoning.
It shows the wrong town, or a district I don't recognise.
Tap the place name at the top and search for the town you want. The
app will then follow that place instead of your device. Tap it again
and choose "Use my location" to go back.
Do I have to give it my location?
No. Searching for a place by name needs no permission at all, and the
app is fully usable that way.
I searched a city in another country. Are those times local to there?
Yes. Every time shown is that place's own local time, on that place's
own clock - so a window of 12:00-13:30 in Tokyo means midday in Tokyo,
whatever time it is where you are standing.
The home screen widget is not updating.
The widget refreshes in the background, and iOS decides when that is
allowed to happen - it can be infrequent for an app you have not
opened recently. Two things help:
- Settings > General > Background App Refresh, on for Laundry Window
- Open the app occasionally; that always refreshes it
The widget also moves through the day on its own using the last
forecast it received, so the answer stays sensible between refreshes.
How do I add the widget?
Touch and hold an empty area of the Home Screen until the icons
jiggle, tap the + button in the corner, search for Laundry Window,
choose a size and tap Add Widget.
Reminders are not arriving.
Check that notifications are allowed: iOS Settings > Laundry Window >
Notifications. Then check the individual reminders are switched on in
the app's Reminders tab. Reminders are scheduled on your device, so
they still work with no network.
What is indoor mode?
An estimate for a clothes airer inside: no sun, and very little moving
air. It is a slower, steadier calculation than the outdoor one, and it
can run through the night because there is no sunset to beat.
How accurate is it?
It is an estimate built on a public weather forecast, and it is honest
about being one - times are stated less precisely the further ahead
they are. Thick fabric, a crowded line and a sheltered corner all dry
slower than the model assumes. Treat it as good advice, not a promise.
Where does the weather come from?
Open-Meteo (https://open-meteo.com). The app sends it the place a
forecast is needed for, and nothing else.
PRIVACY
There is no account, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. The

The app is free and has nothing to buy, so there is nothing to refund.
