About Tri-M

Tri-M is an international honor society recognizing secondary music students for their musical ability, academic excellence, school involvement, and community service. 

How do I apply?

Requirements 

Applicants must:

• be a current sophomore, junior, or senior.

• be enrolled in the music department at Lassiter H.S. and be a member of Symphonic Band 1/2 or Sinfonia/Chamber Orchestra, or Varsity Treble Chorus/Choraliers.

• exhibit leadership, service, and character in their activities while at Lassiter H.S

• have maintained for the previous semester at least an A average grade or equivalent in music classes with at least a B average grade or equivalent in other academic subjects for the past school year

• complete an application and have teachers complete reference forms.

There are three steps to complete your application:

1. Complete the application form

2. Notify your music teacher in person and via email that you are applying for Tri-M membership (Dr. Laux will discuss your citizenship and musicianship with your music teacher.  The music teacher must provide a positive recommendation.)

3. Ask three non-music teachers (current or past) to complete the recommendation form.

All applications and recommendations are due by Friday, September 18, 2026 by 11:59 PM

Candidates for active student membership shall be chosen by the chapter advisor (upon consultation with the other Lassiter music directors).
