AVILA, ANN MIZEL C.
During my practicum experience, I have had the chance to gain hands-on experience in my chosen field and put into practice what I have learned in the classroom. This has been a valuable opportunity for me to see how the theories and concepts I have studied can be applied in a real-world setting.
One of the most important aspects of my practicum experience has been the opportunity to reflect on my own learning and growth. Reflecting on my experiences has allowed me to see my strengths and weaknesses, and to identify areas where I can improve. It has also helped me to see how my actions and decisions impact others, and to consider the ethical implications of my work.
One of the key benefits of reflection during my practicum has been the opportunity to receive feedback from my supervisors and colleagues. This feedback has been invaluable in helping me to identify areas where I need to improve, and to consider different perspectives on my work. It has also given me the opportunity to learn from others and to see how my experiences relate to those of my peers.
Reflecting on my practicum experience has also helped me to develop a deeper understanding of the field I am working in. By considering my experiences in the context of what I have learned in the classroom, I have been able to see how theory can be applied in practice, and to gain a more nuanced understanding of the challenges and opportunities in my chosen field.
Overall, the process of reflection during my practicum has been a valuable learning experience. It has helped me to see my own growth and development, to receive feedback from others, and to deepen my understanding of the field I am working in. I am grateful for the opportunity to take part in a practicum experience, and I look forward to continuing to reflect on my experiences as I move forward in my career.

Embarking on a teaching internship was a pivotal moment in my journey towards becoming an educator. However, I also faced challenges with classroom management, particularly in maintaining student focus during group activities. Entering into this pre-service experience I had no idea how much I was going to learn, about people, teaching and learning, time management and myself. My disposition has been, throughout my pre-service career, that I would teach high school and none other would fit well with me. I came into these placements not knowing what a modified choice classroom looked like or felt like, feeling less than confident in front of students and worried about remembering so many names with faces. I struggled with ideas for lessons and connecting them to the standards. I am growing as an educator and learner.
Thinking about some of the opportunities that I have created for my students, through choice, I have learned how I can incorporate choice in my classroom in many ways. Through materials, concepts, disciplines, collaboration, assessments and so much more. Learning to make decisions and solution finding are key skills in today’s world, choice in the classroom assists in developing critical thinkers and planners.
Thinking about all of the support that I received throughout my internship journey is a big help for me. To my Cooperating Teacher, Principal, and other staff of LaSal, I see that there is an inclusive and supportive community within education. I am excited to be part of this community of educators and learners and look forward to the journey ahead.

This experience taught me the importance of flexibility, patience, and perseverance in overcoming obstacles in the educational setting, and reaffirmed my commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students.

For Me The nature of the school setting for the practicum, the length of the exercise, the efficacy of the teacher educator evaluating the student teachers, the knowledge of the school-based mentors, and the type and consistency of feedback received from both teacher educators and school-based mentors are some of the integrated and interrelated factors that shape my student teachers' practicum experiences. As student teachers, we also face challenges related to being placed in schools on time, being placed in schools that are approved to conduct teaching practice, and receiving supervision and mentoring during the practicum. Even while they are eager to accept student teachers, certain schools, for instance, may have issues with insufficient staffing, inadequate mentoring, nonexistent timelines, and bad management, all of which can negatively impact practicum experiences and demotivate students.

This hands-on experience has allowed me to put into practice all the knowledge and skills that I have acquired during my years of studying education. As I reflect on my time in the classroom, I am filled with a sense of gratitude and excitement for the future.
One of the most significant lessons that I have learned during my practice teaching is the importance of building strong relationships with my students. I have come to realize that in order to effectively teach and guide my students, I must first earn their trust and respect.
