The Comet was my first foray into self publishing. It started out as a comics zine but soon expanded its scope into books, film and TV and other subjects. THE COMET #1 – Spring 1973. 36 pages, photo offset with yellow cover. 8 ½” x 11”. This fanzine features articles on comics of the day, plus fanzine and book reviews and a comic strip featuring classic fanzine characters Captain and Alter Ego written by John Pierce and illustrated by Larry Johnson. THE COMET #4 – Fall 1975. 50 pages, 8 ½” x 11”. ditto reproduction and offset cover by Ed Romero. Leading off with a lengthy article on the Shadow by Gino Membrino, this issue also features cartoons by Dave McDonnell and his column “Bradbury in Depth.” Big Band Review by Larry Jonhson is here, plus other features.
