Description
Kadang-Kadang, also known as Tiyakad in Tagalog, is a traditional Filipino game that tests players’ balance, coordination, and teamwork. It is primarily a racing game using bamboo stilts, often played during cultural festivities or Laro ng Lahi events. "Kadang-Kadang" translates to "simple play," embodying the game’s accessibility and fun.
Rules and Regulations
Teams: Players are divided into teams with each team racing against the other.
Setup: A straight 100-meter track is marked, often divided into intervals (e.g., every 25 meters).
Gameplay:
Players mount the bamboo stilts and race from the starting line to the finish line.
Team members take turns, with one finishing a leg of the race before passing the stilts to the next teammate.
A player is disqualified if they fall off the stilts twice in a single leg.
Winning: The team that successfully completes the race first is declared the winner.
What to Prepare
Bamboo Stilts: Equal-length bamboo poles with foot rests for stepping. These are traditionally 10 feet high but may be modified based on players' age and ability.
Track: A clear, flat area of at least 100 meters.
Markers: Objects or lines to signify checkpoints and the finish line.
