Details about your accommodation

We have arranged 5 double rooms and 2 single rooms with private bathroom and breakfast for you. Your roommate will be assigned for you or you can specify another participant during registration.

For organizational reasons it is not possible to stay less than two nights at our retreat. It is not possible to change your room type (double/single) after registration. Because we have arranged special fares for you, please refer only to us (and not to the venue) should you have questions about your room and the payment.

Please note that the event registration without accommodation is only possible for the people who live in Heidelberg.

Meeting Venue

International Academic Forum Heidelberg (IWH), chosen as this year's retreat venue, is a centre for scholarly exchange in all areas of science and academic research. IWH lies in the heart of Heidelberg's old town near the river Neckar and offers conference facilities, catering and accomodation under one roof. The city center and a railway station (S-Bahnhof Altstadt) are within walking distance.

The Lindau Alumni Retreat 2020 takes place in Heidelberg, the oldest German university town, located in south-west Germany (about 78 km south of Frankfurt am Main). 56 Nobel Laureates share a connection with Heidelberg University or the city of Heidelberg. The UNESCO "City of Literature" is also known due to its increadebly romantic cityscape, including Heidelberg Castle, the Philosophers' Walk, and the baroque style Old Town.

By train

From Heidelberg Main Station (Hauptbahnhof)

1. Take the S-Bahn (S1, S2 - destination Osterburken), get off at "S-Bahnhof Altstadt". Travel time: 4 minutes. It is a 3-5 minute walk to the IWH from there.
2. Take Bus 33 (direction "Köpfel") from the stop in front of the train station. Get off at the "S-Bahnhof Altstadt" . Travel time: approx. 17 minutes. It is a 3-5 minute walk to the IWH from there.

By plane

By car

1. Take autobahn A5 to exit 38 ("Heidelberg Mitte"). At the end of the autobahn, shift to the left lane and take local road B37 towards Eberbach/Mosbach along the Neckar river. At "Karlstor" (the second traffic light after the old bridge ("Alte Brücke")), turn right into "Hauptstraße" (narrow street). The IWH is on your left.
2. Take autobahn A6 to the "Sinsheim" exit. Turn onto local road B37 towards Neckargemünd and drive to Heidelberg along the Neckar River. At "Karlstor", turn left into "Hauptstraße". Follow the directions under III. 1 from there.

Carparking

The nearest parking facilities are "Parkhaus 13" (parking garage 13) at the "Karlsplatz/Rathaus" (3-minute walk to IWH) and "Parkhaus 12" (parking garage 12) at the "Kornmarkt/Schloss" near station funicular. It is a 5-minute walk from there to the IWH. Please note that the main street (Hauptstraße) is under renovation from March 2018 until (est.) September 2020. P12 (Height 1,80m) - P13 (Height 1,90m).
