I became an educator in 2004, and have taught special education, fifth grade, and high school Spanish. In 2024, I transitioned to teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).
My love for languages started in kindergarten when my teacher taught us how to count to ten in Spanish. During middle school, I volunteered at my church, where I taught basic English to a group of Vietnamese students. As a high school student, I was an international exchange student in Costa Rica. I developed such a deep affection for the people, language, and culture that I returned nine more times to visit my host family and friends. I’ve also had the chance to travel to several Spanish-speaking places, including Mexico, Honduras, Panama, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Peru. I hope to visit more of the world in the future!
I enjoy spending time with my family, being active in my church, taking fitness classes, and walking my dog, Siesta. I am currently working toward a doctoral degree in Second Language Instruction.
