This year's LocJam will take the form of a game localisation contest open to groups of students from participating universities and will begin with an online masterclass on the morning of November 7. The language combination for this event will be EN>FR and the game has a total of 2200 words (more or less), though we hope that future events will be able to offer more combinations and be open to language and translation students in other countries. Interested participants will be asked to form groups of 5 before the event begins and will receive the game files and instructions to follow during the masterclass. Groups will have a limited time to submit their work along with a short video explaining their choices. The jury will report its findings online two weeks after the event.

Detailed information:

  • Registration starts on November 2 and will close on November 7 at the end of the masterclass. Groups should have at least 5 students. You will also be able to register if you don't have a group by choosing the option "I don't have a group" and we will do our best to find you some teammates. Click here to download all the documents.

  • The masterclass (in French) held on November 7 at 10 am (Paris time) will include theory, professional tips, and an introduction to SmartCat.com. At the end of the class the game and all pertinent documents will be published and we will answer the questions you may have through a live chat. It is also possible to attend the masterclass without participating in the LocJam.

  • The deadline is November 9 at 9 am. You will be asked to submit your finished translation, a short comment (.ppt format) and a 3-minute video. More information coming soon.

  • On November 21, the videos will be broadcast and the decisions of the jury will be revealed.
