LANGUAGE AND CULTURE IN VIDEOGAMES

The TIL Texte-Image-Langage research centre and the MA Multimedia Translation (T2M) team at the University of Burgundy are pleased to invite you to a symposium on the topic of Language and Culture in Videogames on Friday, 6 November 2020.

Update: following new health measures announced by the French government on 28 October, the event will be held entirely online and available everywhere.

It is open to all researchers, practitioners, students and interested members of the public. Like other events organised by our team over the last few years, the symposium aims to bring together perspectives from academic research and professional practice in a range of fields including game studies, localisation studies and intercultural studies, with a combination of conference-style papers and round table discussions. In order to facilitate international exchange, the event will be held in English. Please see the program page for more information on how the day will be organised.

Registration is free but compulsory, using the link https://cutt.ly/localisationdijon2020.Tickets originally issued for onsite attendance will now be converted to online attendance: there is no need to reserve a new ticket. Please see the welcome onsite/online page for more information.

The symposium will be followed on Saturday 7 November by a LocJam (or game localisation contest) open to groups of students from participating universities and organised entirely online. This event will begin with a masterclass in game localisation (in French) and participants will then have a limited time to localise the game files supplied, following the guidelines they will be given. The jury will report its results online a couple of weeks after the event. Please see the LocJam page for more information.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact localisationdijon@gmail.com. We hope to see you there!
