Principal investigator

Iva Ivanova

Associate Professor

imivanova@utep.edu

I am a Psycholinguist. I do research on the mental mechanisms of language use.

I went to graduate school at the Universities of Barcelona and Edinburgh, and received a Ph. D. from the University of Barcelona in 2010. I was then a postdoc at UCSD from 2011 to 2016.

I am originally from Sofia, Bulgaria, and fondly return to visit family and friends. I speak Bulgarian, English, Spanish and Catalan (and, with considerable effort and a lot of interlocutor patience, German, Russian and Italian) .

I am captivated by detail and process. I find Home Depot fascinating. I do film photography (in my own darkroom), love (contemporary) art, architecture and design, love to read, play tennis, play the piano, dance Argentine tango, and (newly) figure-skate and play disc-golf.
