Chad Destro was born on January 2nd, 1959 in Fall River, Massachusetts. He would go on to complete an accelerated course of study at Dartmouth College, focusing on the new field of psycho-analytics, and eventually earning a PHD with his groundbreaking dissertation on the long-term effects of certain land mammals when exposed to effects of beta particle radiation. While in university, Chad Destro received many academic accolades for his exceptional work, including the College Board 'Acorn of the Week', the MIT Full-bright award, and the Rensselaer Leadership Medal.
After earning his PHD, Destro worked for 5 years at PSICOMM as regional supervisor of chemical operations. Despite the failure of PSICOMM in the late-80s, the work that Destro had done with PSICOMM had lead to many breakthroughs in treatment for psychological disorders, and effects of his research echo through the pharmaceutical industry to this day.
Shortly after leaving PSICOMM, Chad Destro began working as an associate, and then a full-time professor at the University of Massachusetts at Fall River. While in Fall River, Destro used his vast connections and knowledge of industry secrets in the field of psycho-analytics to co-found the Horace H. Mann Department of Psychoanalysis.
Chad was a professor at UMFR for 5 years when he was promoted to department head, then 3 years later, interim president of the University. During this time he became incredibly involved with many charity organizations, such as the Amalgomat Church of Christ, the City of Fall River Public Resources Office, and the Langham Foundation. He was renowned by many as a charitable and generous person who gave at any chance he had to those less fortunate than himself.
Unfortunatly, Destro suffered a heart attack at the age of 39, which he swiftly recovered from thanks to the support given by both his family and wider community. Despite his recovery, his heart attack left him with multiple health complications, which may have lead to his tragic disappearance in 2000.
Chad Destro lived a full life that left a large impact on every community he was a part of, and his memory will be rembered by each and every person whose life he touched.
This playground is devoted to Chad Destro, for all his charitable contributions to education, science, and his community.
