I was honored to join the Highland Community College Golf Team this fall. I entered the team one of three freshmen amongst a group of very talented golfers. I enjoyed the camaraderie and competition. I achieved many personal goals including shooting many rounds in the 70s, improving my drives, maintaining consistency, and attacking the mental game of golf. In addition, to the lifelong dream I had of playing golf at the collegiate level.
I have never had a problem with having enough drive or determination, practicing longer or harder, and analyzing my game. I took each of these areas to a new level this year. I practice daily in season, participate in a Winter golf academy, and utlize technology (Rapsodo) and my priavate Coach, Travis Becker, to constantly refine my skills.
Being a part of a team that qualified for NJCAA Nationals was a once in a lifetime experience. The challenge and pressures of competion at this level was incredible. Although my team placed 16/23, I will foever be grateful for this experience.
Despite a few high scores this season, I maintained an 83 average. This summer I am spending a lot of time working at the golf course and playing daily. In addition, I plan to play in several local tounaments. This summer, I have improved my game even more and am looking forward to seeing what next season brings!
