Taylor’s Quality Landscape Supply and Nursery, Inc. originated in Lexington, SC in 2004 as a small pine straw distribution center (Taylor’s Pinestraw) by Gerrick Taylor, a football coach at a local high school.
Before long, Gerrick acquired a small piece of property and added mulch and sod to his inventory, both available for pick-up or delivery.
Gerrick was still looking to expand even further. He and his family, loving the lowcountry, moved to Bluffton, SC and established Taylor’s QLS, providing pine straw, mulch, rock, sand and gravel to contractors and the general public. Seeing a growing demand it wasn’t long and Taylor’s QLS developed a small nursery that is growing larger almost weekly.
At Taylor’s QLS we offer many different products and some services, such as delivery, installing palm trees, boulders and large trees that would require a tractor or large piece of equipment.
Anyone staffed at Taylor’s QLS is always ready to give a helping hand from loading your vehicle with sod, pinestraw, rocks, or any of the materials we provide, to showing you around the nursery looking for that perfect tree, shrub or perennial.
Taylor’s QLS has been very fortunate and blessed to have many loyal and faithful customers and friends. We thank you all for your continued business and look forward to serving the Bluffton and surrounding areas for many years to come.

They provide the broader context within which we live our lives. Living within aesthetically pleasing and culturally meaningful landscapes enhances our sense of wellbeing. Visiting largely undeveloped landscapes enables people to reconnect with nature, to refresh their minds and bodies and to gain a greater appreciation on nature.
Even if you are not planning on selling your home anytime soon, having your garden landscaped now means you get time to enjoy your beautiful garden surroundings as well as knowing that your house is worth more than it was before.
It is a fact that garden landscaping by professional landscape contractors and landscape gardeners can reduce your utility bills and conserve energy. This is because during the winter months your garden’s trees, hedges, grasses and shrubs can protect your home from harsh winter winds while capturing the winter sun. On the other hand, in the summer the garden’s trees and hedges can absorb heat from the sun to help keep your home cooler.
Below are the 7 ways that you ought to do if you want a natural lawn that is lush and chemical-free:
If you want your landscaping to have a fresh look you should work on giving your rock or flower beds soft curves on the edges. Remember that curved beds are seen as more contemporary, as well as sharp corners. Having fresh cut edges will make a huge impact on the way your lawn looks.
Native plants are a joy to work with and should be used whenever possible. Native plants by their very nature will grow well in your area with a minimum of upkeep. These means that you will have to take less time to help keep them growing. Any greenhouse can tell you which plants are ideally suited for your area.
Don't try to accomplish all of your landscaping projects at the same time. Break your project down into more cost-effective and less labor-intensive steps. By doing your landscape in phases you will also be able to make any necessary changes along the way.
Timing will help you save money when you need to buy landscape items. If you purchase plants like shrubs and trees late in growing seasons you will save money because they are in lower demand. If you need lumber, the winter is usually when the prices are the lowest. Instead of buying new plants when they first appear, wait a year or two and let the prices fall.
Take the time to talk with fellow gardeners or professions before you embark on a landscaping project. While you probably don't need them to work on the whole project, spending money for consultation can help you avoid making expensive mistakes. This step is especially important if you are not experienced in landscape design.
Before you go to a gardening store to get your materials together, measure out your work area and make sure the measurements are exact. It will be a lot easier to gauge the number of plants you need when you have the measurements mapped out. This will ensure that you purchase just the right amount of all materials.
Know Your Plants
When landscaping, you must know the difference between perennials and annuals, as well as what flowers, plants, and shrubs work best in certain geographical areas and under certain climates. You should keep seasonal variations in mind when you choose plants, too. You must be aware of this information to ensure that you get the results that you want.
Drip-Style Water System
Water your plants with a drip-style system. You can easily install a drip irrigation system; this type of system gives plants continuous access to water. It is also much more sustainable as it uses a lower amount of water.
Having the right technique along with the best products will help you achieve the landscape or garden that you have always wanted.

You know how people say, “There is beauty in simplicity”? The same is true for landscaping. Do not commit the same mistake that beginners often make -- putting too many ornaments in their landscape. This somewhat takes away the entire idea of being close to nature.
Use small, subtle ornaments that complement your outdoor space and fits the style of your garden.
Irrigation is one of the most important aspects of gardening. Plan a proper irrigation structure at the beginning of your project and don’t make it an afterthought. Each plant in your landscaping may have different watering needs, and an irrigation system should take that into account.
Another thing that you might want to consider is concealing irrigation lines. Visible irrigation can really mess up a pretty design. Remember, aesthetics should go with functionality.
It’s summertime! While this is the perfect time to enjoy the outdoors, it is important for us to protect ourselves from the harmful effects of sun exposure . Likewise, keep in mind that this heat is bad news for your plants, too. Extreme heat slows down a plant’s growth.
Allow us to share with you four ways to save your plants in the heat in Bluffton and Beaufort, SC.
Just as we need to hydrate ourselves during this hot season, it is important that you water your plants as well. This is especially true for plants in a container.
Plants in the heat in Bluffton and Beaufort, SC should be watered slowly. Doing it in this manner allows the water to be able to seep deeper into the soil. You want to do this because the heat makes the water evaporate quickly. Experts say that the best way to do this is by using drip irrigation.
Also, make it a habit to check the soil. If it is dry more than an inch down, it needs more water.
Another trick is to water your plants in the evening or early in the morning. This ensures that the roots are well-hydrated before the heat of the day.
There are three ways that you can provide shade to your more sensitive plants.
First, plant sun-worshipping plants such as sunflowers, palm trees, and the likes. They may only provide partial shade but it goes a long way in protecting the smaller, more sensitive plants.
You may want to check out Taylor’s Quality Landscaping Supply. They are the leading palm tree supplier and installer in the Lowcountry. They serve the Bluffton and Beaufort, SC areas.
Second, move the plants in the heat in Bluffton and Beaufort, SC further into your house so they are not directly hit by the sun. This one is pretty obvious but some people actually forget to do this.
Third, construct shade. You can set up trellises or pergolas that are both eye-catching and functional. Similarly, you may put together a simple frame made of wood and cover it with greenhouse shade cloth. Just make sure that there is still ventilation so your plants can breathe. Otherwise, heat will get trapped inside and defeat the purpose of putting a cover.
Mulch is the most important factor in keeping your plants in the heat in Bluffton and Beaufort, SC healthy and well throughout the summer. It offers a layer of protection to your plants. It helps lock in moisture, reduces evaporation, and prevents weeds from growing.
There are plenty of mulch selections when it comes to mulch: pine bark, wood chips, sawdust, shredded newspaper, straw, alfalfa, etc. You can find more options in Taylor’s Quality Landscaping Supply located at Bluffton, SC.
Plants in the heat in Bluffton and Beaufort, SC need as many nutrients as they can get. This can help them be more tolerant of the intense condition they are in. This is why you need to keep fertilizing your plants in the summer.
It is recommended that you fertilize your plants early in the morning so you reduce the possibility of burning them. You might also need to use a liquid fertilizer and reduce the amount from what you normally use.

Having a plan is a vital aspect of every project, not just in gardening. Planning allows you to see the full picture of what you will be working hard to achieve.
You can start by using a landscaping software and making a list of plants that you would like to grow. Make sure that you do your research and create a budget. If necessary, seek help from a professional.
Planting Too Close Together
It is essential for groups of perennials, shrubs, and trees have plenty of room to spread. Otherwise, they will look choked and overgrown. This also causes plants to compete for food and water, putting the clusters at risk, especially during drought.
Research on how high and wide the mature plant will be and then combine that info with the spacing suggestions on planting labels. They might look a bit sparse at first, but within three years, they’ll be looking lush and healthy.
Neglecting your front yard
People tend to focus so much on their backyard garden but fail to give any attention to their front yard. This should not be the case. Remember, curb appeal is very important and your front yard is the very first thing that people can see when they look at your house.
Your Landscape Supply and Nursery Resource
Pesticides and herbicides used in traditional lawn care are harmful not only to the plants but to people and animals as well. They make for costly landscaping projects — both in time and money.
Converting to a natural, low-maintenance lawn—one that you can feel good about and that's also unchallenging—is actually easier than people might think.
Talk to a professional from Taylor’s Quality Landscape Supply to help you figure out what you need in order to achieve that beautiful, natural lawn.
