Career Goal Narrative

There are many ways you can go in life, from joining the military, to going to college, joining a trade, and many more. Although there are so many choices, that is the reason I have not yet decided where I want to go in life. I am hoping that this Engineering class could help me decide if I pursue a future in it. I was prompted to enter this field because of my dreams of one day going to space, as astronauts have to have a degree in a stem field, engineering seemed like the best one. I decided that this was the right way for me to go after seeing how far Elon Musk has gone with SpaceX, and I want to be a part of the future.

At this point in my life, the only thing I have done to pursue my dream is joining Engineering at the Tech Center. Last year I tried out a business class but it was not what I had hoped for. So, I changed my career path to engineering, and it seems to be the best fit. I enjoy working with code, Arduino's and I am excited to learn about drafting. This class has enabled my mind to be creative and think in ways I have never had before. So far, I have learned geometry, algebra, some code, different sciences and Arduino's to further help my studies.

Extracurricular activities have never really been my thing unless they involve sports, I enjoy playing on the lacrosse team where I have learned teamwork, leadership, time management and sportsmanship. I have not participated in any activities outside of school that will help me achieve my goals, which now looking at it I should look into some to further understand my studies.

After high school, I plan to attend a 4 year college, if I can get into my preferred schools, if I cannot I may attempt to follow my dad, and attempt to join the Elevator Trade. If everything goes right I should be at a university such as Maryland or Virginia Tech. I plan on having my major in a category of engineering such as Aerospace engineering. I will work hard and maintain good grades to make this happen.

Once I graduate or join the trade I plan on helping us modernize society and plan for the future. I hope to work for NASA or SpaceX and help us reach mars, if we haven't already. Also, I would like to help my community with my problem solving skills learned in this class. I hope I keep up with my work, maintain good grades and use these opportunities I have been given to my advantage.
