“Wake up, it’s time for a game.” This is what I heard most of my Sunday mornings in the summer laying in a hotel bed before a travel baseball game. Baseball was one of my first loves that I can remember. When I’m on the field, it is the most relaxing place in the world, even if it is a close game. There is nothing better to me than playing baseball with all of my friends. I also play football and basketball. I like those sports too because it is nice to play different sports so I don’t damage the same muscles. Playing sports has taught me many lessons and given me many friendships and memories that I couldn’t get doing anything else, that is something I am grateful for.
My family gets a lot of credit to how much I enjoy sports. I could count on a hand how many games they have missed of mine that I can remember. They are always there to cheer me on and support me no matter how busy their lives are. I am very thankful that I have such great parents. I also have one brother; his name is Devin. He is about nine years older than me, so when he was living at home I was just his annoying little brother. But now that time has gone on and we have gotten older, we have become good friends. If I ever need anything, I know I can ask him things because he has been through many situations that I will go through, like college.
As a senior in high school, everyone always wants to know what my future goals are, but I am still focused on high school. As a student, I’m not always the most productive, but when I put my mind to it, I can get things done in a timely manner with good completion. With all the distractions of the world, this is tough. But as I keep maturing, I think I will continue to grow in this. For college, I plan to try to play baseball somewhere close to home, and if that doesn’t work out, then I will go to Highland Community College in Wamego, Kansas for two years and get my associates degree. After that, I would go to Kansas State and major in sports marketing.
When thinking about college it makes me kind of sad leaving my hometown that I have lived in for my whole life. Although Seneca, Kansas can be boring sometimes I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. The support you get from the community is something special. Being around my friends is also something that I will miss, even though some will be going to the same college, it will still be different having to adjust to all the new people I will meet. I think finding friends will be a new challenge for me because I am pretty shy around people I don’t know. I think that with all the people that are at college I will easily be able to find people that have the same interests as me. But I know that the friendships I have right now will last a lifetime.
The future is always a scary thing as we don’t know what God has planned for us, but I will make sure that I always trust his plan. Throughout my life I have attended CCD on every Wednesday night though the school year learning more about God. I also went to church as often as I could on the weekends. I am very grateful to be a christan and have a relationship with our savior. I know that whatever happens to me is all a part of his plan.
