About Me

Importance of basketball for me/Why I love the game:

One of the main reasons I love basketball is because I love competing and working hard for my ultimate goal of going to college for free to play basketball. I fell in love with basketball at a young age and the more I watched college basketball or the NBA on TV, the more I wanted to be in their shoes. I also love competing with my teammates/brothers out on the court. I have formed very strong bonds with so many of my teammates not only on the court, but off the court as well. For me, playing basketball is not a hobby, or activity, or a game, it is a way of life.

Basketball also effects other aspects of my life. The lessons I learn from playing this game can be applied to life outside of the gym. One example of this is work ethic. I have a great work ethic on the court and that trait is applied in places such as at home, in school, and any future job I may have. Another important concept that basketball taught me is brotherhood. The relationships I have formed though basketball teach me how important it is to form strong bonds with other people while working for a common goal.

Giving Back:

In the summer of 2018, I traveled to Cuba with an organization called Full Court Peace. Full Court Peace is an organization that gives teenagers in Fairfield County go on mission trips to foreign countries and spread positivity and unity through the game of basketball. When I was in Cuba, I built and painted courts for the local Cubans. After the courts dried up, we could play with the Cubans and teach some of them how to shoot or dribble if they did not know how to. Also, I donated 30 pairs of basketball shoes to the Cubans because they are not fortunate to have the same clothing we do. This was an amazing experience for me because it showed how even though the Cubans are very poor and don't live the lives that we are fortunate enough to live, we can all be united and equal through the love of basketball.

Also, over the last few summers, I have been helping out at my high school basketball team's summer camp. My role as a volunteer was to coach young kids (Ages 6-15) for three weeks. This was a great opportunity for me to give back because the game of basketball has taught me so many great lessons, and I could pass those lessons on to the youth.

Family:

I live at home in Trumbull with my parents. My oldest sister, Delaney, swims for Fairfield University, a Division 1 program. My younger sister, Karina, attends Indiana University, and she is a sophomore there. My family supports me immensely with all of my athletic and academic endeavors. They help me succeed.

Facts:

  • Started playing basketball in 3rd grade
  • Been playing for Coach Dave Taylor since 5th grade
  • Played Varsity as a freshmen
  • Play basketball all year round (AAU - March-November School - December-March)

School Life:

Currently I am a rising senior at Trumbull High School. My favorite subjects in school are my business courses, because I plan on going down that road in college. I have been placed in the top academic classes since I was in 5th grade. Being in these classes has taught me to importance of preparation, organization, and hard work. As I am exploring career options, I am very interested in staying around the game of basketball whether that is as a player, coach, manager, trainer, etc. I worked very hard to raise my GPA over my years in high school, and have earned a 3.91 through hard work in and out of the classroom.
