1. MONAT’S CLINICAL INGREDIENT STUDIES: WHAT ARE THEY?

MONAT has naturally based products that utilize supplier-proven materials that provide a great environment for healthy scalp and hair. MONAT conducts independent safety studies on its finished products.

The clinical studies we refer to were conducted on the key ingredients used in MONAT formulations. These clinical studies refer to the key ingredient manufacturer or supplier conducted clinical tests on their own materials, and their documented results. Material suppliers offer us the use of their clinical results to validate the activity and demonstrate benefits that their material provides in our formulations.

All MONAT formulations use ingredients that the FDA and European Commission in the European Union consider “safe for their intended cosmetic purpose.” All MONAT formulations are clinically safety-tested by independent labs to ensure that they do not promote irritation. No MONAT formulation has ever shown any potential to cause irritation or allergy.

2. WHICH MONAT PRODUCTS PROVIDE HEAT PROTECTANT?

Currently Blow Out Cream is our only product that provides some heat protection. We will be introducing more heat protectants in the future. Reshape Root Lifter and REJUVENIQE™ Oil Intensive do not provide heat protection.

3. THE INTENSE REPAIR LINE…WHO IS IT FOR?

We recommend the Intense Repair line to those concerned with thinning hair or for those who are experiencing loss of hair density. An independent study showed that the MONAT Intense Repair Treatment Conditioner is seen to hugely facilitate manageability, mask chemical and heat related damage and help protect against frictional /abrasional wear and tear.

4. WHAT CAN I EXPECT WHEN I SWITCH FROM MORE CONVENTIONAL HAIR CARE PRODUCTS TO MONAT HAIR CARE PRODUCTS?

The hair and scalp might go through a noticeable change or “transition phase” when switching over to more naturally based hair care products. Many conventional hair care products contain harsh chemicals and silicones, which build up on the hair with the intention to make the hair look shinier and to cover the hair’s damaged parts. When using MONAT shampoos, these silicones are slowly broken down and rinsed off the scalp and out of the hair. Hair begins to regain its natural shiny state and look naturally beautiful. This is what we mean by the “detoxifying”” process at MONAT – the gentle deep cleansing and purifying of the hair and scalp from conventional silicones, harsh chemicals, impurities, grime and product build-up.

Clinical studies have shown that MONAT shampoos and conditioners do not cause hair damage, hair breakage or hair loss. Hair loss is not part of any MONAT deep cleansing, purifying or “detoxifying” process. Hair shedding, however, is a normal process, whether using MONAT products or not. It’s normal to shed between 50 to 100 hairs a day.

5. WHAT IF I HAVE A NEGATIVE REACTION TO A PRODUCT?

With MONAT, like with any other product line, not every product is perfect for every person. In the unlikely event you have a negative reaction discontinue use and consult your physician.

6. CAN YOU OVERUSE THE REPLENISH MASQUE?

In general, if you follow the recommended product usage directions there should not be a problem with overuse. Use the masque 1-2 times a week and always follow with a MONAT conditioner for the best results. It is also important to always rinse out the masque thoroughly after each application.

7. ARE THE FRAGRANCES IN MONAT PRODUCTS HARMFUL?

No, the fragrances used in MONAT’s formulations have ingredients that adhere to the IFRA (International Fragrance Association) and RIFM (Research Institute of Fragrance Materials) standards for safety. This is why you can be confident using and recommending MONAT.

MONAT’s proprietary formulations contain a combination of non-hazardous natural and safe synthetic fragrances which are added to enhance the aromatic experience.

All the MONAT formulations (with fragrance included) have been clinically tested for safety to ensure that they do not promote irritation.

8. IS REJUVENIQE™ OIL INTENSIVE A HEAT PROTECTANT?

REJUVENIQE™ Oil Intensive has many powerful benefits but heat protectant is not one of them. We recommend that you utilize the oil after completing your blow dry for flyaways or to smooth hair.

9. DOES MONAT CURE PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS SUCH AS DANDRUFF OR ECZEMA?

No, we are a cosmetic company and do not claim to cure any medical conditions. All MONAT products are safe for their intended use and have undergone all required safety assessments for use in cosmetic products.

10. WHEN I HAVE PRODUCT QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS, WHERE DO I GO?

11. WHAT ABOUT RENEW SHAMPOO? WHAT IF WE HAVE CONCERNS?

Renew Shampoo has been in MONAT’s top 5 best-selling products for the past three years. In the last few weeks we have shipped Renew Shampoos with essentially the same formulation except an ingredient that had a slight difference in color and texture.

The results of recent comparative testing for manufacturing quality and product safety, conducted with independent labs and in salon-based comparative testing environments, demonstrated no difference in efficacy between the Renew Shampoos with our traditional color and those shipped more recently which displayed a slight variation in color and texture. Despite the neutrality of these test results some customers perceived a difference in the efficacy. Therefore we have decided to discontinue selling all the Renew Shampoos with a slight difference in color and texture.

Currently, all the Renew Shampoos you and your customers receive will have the original color and texture. If anyone feels they are not happy with the Renew Shampoo that looks whiter in color, we will replace it with a Renew Shampoo with our traditional color and texture, no questions asked.

12. IF I ENCOUNTER ANY CYBER BULLYING POSTS OR ATTACKS IN RELATION TO MONAT PRODUCTS (OUTSIDE OF THE OFFICIAL MONAT PAGES OR GROUPS) SHOULD I REPORT THIS TO MONAT AND, IF SO, HOW DO I REPORT IT?

13. WHY WOULD MONAT PRODUCTS BE COMPARED TO THE WEN PRODUCTS THAT RECEIVED BAD PRESS?

As MONAT continues to grow, we have unfortunately had unfounded accusations comparing our products to those of WEN and its problems in 2016. It’s important to understand the facts:

WEN Fact: The WEN Products that gave rise to the FDS Adverse Event Reports and the thousands of consumer complaints contained two preservatives that are sensitizing allergins – methylisothiazolinone (“lso”) and methylchloroisothiazolinone (“Chloroiso”). Chloroiso also has been linked to contact dermatitis.

MONAT: MONAT PRODUCTS DO NOT CONTAIN EITHER OF THESE PRESERVATIVES, ISO OR CHLORO.

WEN Fact: The WEN products that gave rise to the FDA complaints do not contain surfactants.

MONAT: MONAT PRODUCTS CONTAIN SURFACTANTS, A NECESSARY ELEMENT FOR CLEANSING THE HAIR.

14. WHY DO WE RECOMMEND SHAMPOOING TWICE?

Very simply, the first washing takes away the environmental debris and the second washing offers added cleansing to prepare the hair to receive the benefits of our conditioning products.

15. ARE OUR PRODUCTS SAFE TO USE DURING PREGNANCY?

Yes, our hair care products are safe to use during pregnancy.

16. CAN NATURALLY BASED PRODUCTS HAVE SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT COLORS?

Naturally based products may have some color, viscosity or slight odor variations form time to time due to the raw materials used, but this does not affect the product performance or safety. As noted before, because our products are naturally based, we recommend that you shake the products several times before using.

17. DOES MONAT REGROW HAIR?

No, MONAT will not regrow hair. MONAT does help to provide the perfect environment to help support healthy hair growth, and a healthy scalp.

18. IS RED CLOVER IN CAPIXYL™ SAFE?

Capixyl™ is an emollient blend that helps to protect the scalp, strengthen and thicken hair while supporting natural growth. Red Clover extract in the ingredient Capixyl is only a trace amount, and, when applied topically in cosmetic hair care products, will not have any impact on hormones.

According to our Capixyl supplier, Lucas Meyer Cosmetics Canada Inc., “Capixyl™, if used according to the recommended dosage, is safe, and has been evaluated with a battery of safety tests for skin irritation, skin sensitization, phototoxicity, and mutagenicity to support the conclusion of its safe use. There is abundant information in scientific literature that includes human clinical trial studies to support the safety of Red Clover extract when used as dietary supplements containing high levels Red Clover extract. Therefore Capixyl™ with its low level of Red Clover Extract can be safely used in cosmetic product applications including hair care formulations.”

19. IS REJUVENIQE™ OIL INTENSIVE ORGANIC?

Yes, it is a blend of natural plant and essential oils, rich in omega fatty acids, antioxidants and nutrients highly compatible with the skin and hair.

20. DO WE TEST ON ANIMALS?

No, we do not test on animals. In addition we do not use any animal products in our formulations.
