Lamin and his brother Buba made this trip truly unforgettable. They didn’t just take us to the well-known highlights like the Monkey Park, Kunta Kinteh Island (formerly known as James Island), a safari in Senegal, the art village, and the vibrant local markets — they also introduced us to the real Gambia. We visited small villages, met local families, and experienced everyday life up close. Lamin knew a lot about local plants and herbs, knew the traditions and history of his country and was keen to share this knowledge with us.
They guided us safely from one breathtaking place to the next adventure. No road, shortcut, or sandy track was unfamiliar to them. Even on the busier roads, where traffic can sometimes feel chaotic, we always felt completely safe in their taxi. Their calmness, skills, and professionalism gave us total confidence.
No request was ever too much. Buba even went out at midnight to get us water and mosquito protection — and the next morning, he was there again with a big smile, ready for a new day. After a warm morning hug, Lamin and Buba took us to a traditional wrestling match, a visit to the mosque, and even a magical djembe evening around a campfire at the seaside. Another special moment was preparing oysters the traditional Gambian way, overlooking the river. It was such an authentic and beautiful experience. and an explosion of flavors in the mouth. These were just some of the many unforgettable moments we shared.
