In this film, we look at the reasons why NA still rules OK. Sound is clearly a benefit, but just why do naturally aspirated engines sound more musical than turbocharged ones? Then there is drivability; Turbos rule the roost when it comes to efficiency and producing power, but there are still NA traits that snails are continually striving to match.

The different configurations of 6 cylinders whether V6 or flat-six, are also a serious muffled mess. **

The brands that come to the top of my mind for blatantly incorrect car sounds - Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Chevrolet, Toyota, BMW and Mazda! And without a doubt, there are many more.

No transmission sounds at all, no turbo spooling and whistling, no induction noise, no supercharger whines, no bass or depth, no movement of exhaust tips like they used to and should - and no actual car sounds that match their real life counterparts!! (just port them over from FH5 and FM7 at the least please). V12s, V8s V6s or rotary engines - they all sound the same - a droney, muffled and echoic mess.

It is so bad that when you go back to FH5 and drive the 718 GT4 RS with its loud flat-six and transmission sounds or a Lamborghini Huracan STO, a Nissan 350Z, an SVJ or a Shelby GT350, you really admire and appreciate your cars and their sounds in FH5. (American V8 cars like Dodge Hellcats, Mustang GTs and all versions of modern Camaros in game still sound very muffled and neutered in FH5).

This is the sentiment we have for the Motorsport and you can finally understand why long time fans are frustrated! This game can look really good and highly photorealistic if the cars were respected enough. The FORZA community are not only gamers but also include many true car enthusiasts who can tell when a game is off especially compared to the current industry standards in car modelling, rendering and sound design. People who have been playing your games and have been supporting the community. People who paid and have been paying full price for your AAA licensed racing game!

I think they should port sounds from Forza Motorsport 6 along with FH5. FM6 is the last Forza Motorsport title that had great sounding cars. I have no idea what the hell happened but FM7 sounds terrible most of the time, and now FM suffers the same fate despite them having much longer developement time!! This is unacceptable.

I really hope everyone takes a listen to FM6 sounds, and also FM5 and FM4. Those titles had great sounding cars that the sound engineers should also take a listen to! This game desperately needs a sound update

Well, I did listen to the sounds from the previous motorsport titles but they have some caveats. Porting them will not improve the sounds as they are much older now, considering they sounded a lot better at that time. I think the sound can be improved by:

Re-recording the sounds of the car again making sure they have the different characteristics and unique identity. All the cars should have actual car sounds to match their real life counterparts.

Not over tweaking the sounds or mixing way too much to make it artificial or synthesized as I think this is the core reason why cars sounds entirely disappointing, compressed, flat or even trumpety(as in FH5 the Supras, Skylines and many other cars do sound like that).

The second trouble with this game - synthetic fake engine sounds that feel like they were generated by a computer using AI.

I do not understand why the cars sound so lifeless just like they look in this game! All cars sound super droney, synthetic, flat and unoriginal.

Also one thing to note are the small details that makes a lot of difference such as the transmission sound, turbo spools, supercharger whines etc. These needs to be added or fixed through quality of life improvements. I know these sound updates to all the cars cannot be done overnight but little by little at least giving 5-10 cars a sound update per month will not be bad I guess.

Somebody kept this Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 in its cage with no food for way too long and now this beast is hungry. The ravenous sound on this brilliant orange bull comes from its Innotech Performance Exhaust and other extensive modifications fitted by GT Auto Concepts. When this Lambo is revved it sounds something like a bloody chainsaw winding up or an angry lion being woken from its sleep.
