2024/2025 Season
Lamar Archery does NOT have tryouts. However, there are limited spots due to space and schedule restrictions we must maintain in order to coach and teach all archers safely. Students interested in pursing a spot on the Lamar Archery team MUST sign-up and attend one of the New Archer Meet-n-Greet Orientation Clinics in August. These ARE NOT drop-in clinics. You MUST sign up and RSVP a spot. These will be the only clinics offered.
Archers with have at least 1-year of NASP instruction at a NASP registered school and have participated in at least one NASP tournament, do NOT need to sign-up for a Meet-n-Greet Clinic (this includes incoming 6th grade NASP archers from Brentwood & Highland Park). The New Archer Meet-n-Greet Orientation Clinics are intended for (1) 6th-8th grade students enrolled at Lamar Middle School for the 2024-25 school year, (2) archers new to the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP), and (3) students interested in learning more about being on the Lamar Archery Team. There is no cost for the Meet-n-Greet Clinic - all equipment provided. Parents are STRONGLY encouraged to stay and observe. The 90-minute session will teach archers range safety, introduce shooting protocol, allow time for an archer/parent Q & A, and provide season information to help archers/families determine if they’d like to pursue a commitment to be a Lamar Archer.

After the Meet-n-Greet...Now What?
Archers wishing to continue will join the Development Team.
The DevTeam season starts the week of 26-August and culminates with an Intra-Squad Tournament on Saturday, 28-September.
Development Team archers practice twice a week (one weekday Mon/Thur options & one weekend Sat/Sun options) - 9 practices total.
The ESTIMATED cost for the DevTeam season is $240-250.
Development Team archers will join returning archers on Saturday, 5-October for our Team building Day.
Beginning the week of 7-October all archers practice together (we drop the DevTeam distinction).
BRENTWOOD ARCHERS ENTERING LMS
BRENTWOOD INCOMING ARCHERS:
Brentwood archers who competed at the 2024 Texas State Championships DO NOT need to sign-up for a Meet-n-Greet Clinic.
Brentwood students who DID NOT compete at the 2024 Texas State Championships MUST sign-up for a Meet-n-Greet Clinic.
Complete an LMS Archery Interest Form 2024-25 Season (this is the only way I will be able to keep you informed).
Brentwood Archers will join the Development Team practices beginning the week of Aug. 26 (see above).
LMS RETURNING ARCHERS & HP ARCHERS ENTERING LMS
LMS returning archers and HP incoming archers from the 2023-24 team do not need to sign-up for a Meet-n-Greet Clinic.
Complete an LMS Archery Interest Form 2024-25 Season (this is the only way I will be able to keep you informed).
Season officially starts Saturday, 5-October - Team Building Day.
I will schedule weekend Shoot-Arounds in September.
Practice will look the same as last season, i.e., two practices per week (one weekday Mon-Thur options and one weekend, Sat/Sun. options).
