Lakshmi Sai Hospital was the first orthopaedic hospital in Bapatla, established by an orthopaedic & joint replace surgeon, Dr. Uppala Vidya Sagar, MD (Anatomy), DNB (Ortho), FJR, in 2022. The primary goal of this hospital is to treat orthopaedic and related problems, knee replacement surgery using imported implants for osteoarthritis patients at an affordable cost within Bapatla. In addition to this, General surgery and Anaesthesia departments are available to treat the related and general health problems.

Dr. Vidya Sagar received MD (Anatomy) from the internationally reputed institution, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. He taught the undergraduate medical students (MBBS) and also carried the research work at AIIMS during this period.

He pursued DNB Ortho (equivalent to MS/MD) as his 2nd PG from the very old and well-known Southern Railway Headquarters Hospital in Chennai. He performed many surgeries independently and assisted as well.

He worked as an Assistant professor at Hi-Tech medical college & hospital, Rourkela, Odisha. He taught Anatomy and Orthopaedics subjects to the undergraduate medical students. During this period, he also treated the patients and performed surgeries.

Later, he worked as an Orthopaedic surgeon at the Rourkela Government Hospital, Odisha and served the COVID-19 patients as well in the very crucial time. Here, while serving the poor with the available facilities, he was introduced to various extremes of neglected health conditions.

He also completed the fellowship in joint replacement surgery (FJR) in Hyderabad during which he performed the knee and hip replacement surgeries independently.

Just before establishing the hospital in Bapatla, he worked as an orthopaedic specialist in Bapatla district under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) in government sector.
