Lakshmi has worked on a variety of projects that use storytelling techniques to translate political concepts in an entertaining and accessible way for the public. As a multi-disciplinary artist, she uses a variety of mediums including illustration, photography, podcasts, curation and multi-media. Excerpts of previous projects can be found below.
A graphic novella published with The Green European Journal that explores how the far-right has sought to influence higher education.
A short graphic novel published with The Sociological Review that translated a chapter of Lakshmi's PhD into a fictionalised account of authoritarian state security and its impact on activism. You can read it here.
A public exhibition for the University of Cambridge on a critical history of anthropological photography which included live infographic illustration, expert panelists, and guided art workshops on the theories of representation.
A podcast that explores the crisis in modern higher education in the UK. Using utopian and dystopian fiction as a guide, it investigates how politics, revolution and social theory can illuminate how a better world might be possible.

Dr. Lakshmi Bose received her PhD in political sociology from the University of Cambridge in 2021. Her work focuses on revolutionary politics across the political spectrum. For her PhD, she conducted an intergenerational transnational ethnography of militant leftists in South Africa and Turkey to comprehend how state securitisation shaped political action over time. From 2022-2024 she spearheaded an ethnography exploring the political conflicts and revolutionary ambitions of the far-right across North America, Europe and parts of Latin America. Her expertise lies in bridging political philosophy and theory to grounded sociological action research.
