Scouts have 12 rules known as the twelve scout laws which are:
A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.
The 3 policy statements can be found in the scout oath:
On my honor I will do my duty
To God and my country
and obey the scout law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong;
mentally awake, and morally straight.
Our troop provides a "Safe Haven" environment for our scouts. Since our troop is a scout run troop it is organized into patrols and run by a Senior Patrol Leader. Scouts are able to try new ideas, roles, and experiences with guidance from our Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmasters, and Merit Badge Counselors. During meetings, scouts work on rank advancement, earning merit badges, and planning outings. Each month the Senior Patrol Leader holds a troop meeting to plan future meetings, activities, and outings for the next month. All scouts are encouraged to live by the Scout Law and the Scout Oath as their rules. From time to time a Scoutmaster or an Assistant Scoutmaster may provide guidance to the Scout in this area.
Parent involvement is strongly encouraged. Volunteers are the backbone of scouting and are needed to ensure your boy has a quality scouting experience. There are many ways to support the troop and your child. You can accompany the troop on an outing, help coordinate an activity, teach a merit badge, or be a committee member. Every meeting, activity, and outing must have at least two adult leaders in attendance so participation is vital to the operation of the troop.
Please ask Mr. Lausten for the current fees.
District and troop scholarships are available for scouts with financial need.
Boy’s Life Magazine:
This magazine comes to the Boy's place of residence and has great ideas for games, crafts, outings, and great stories about scouts around the world. If you pay all dues at once yearly at the time of recharter, the magazine is free.
Outing Fees:
Each time a scout goes on an outing there may be fees for food, camping fee, or an activity. Fees are due before the outing.
Fundraising:
The troop does fundraising twice a year through selling popcorn and Scout Show tickets. Although it is optional to participate, scouts can earn a percentage to be put into their own individual account to help pay for outings or camp.
Uniforms and Equipment:
A tan scout shirt, green epaulets, and troop numbers along with a Scout Handbook will need to be purchased by each scout at the Denver Area Council Scout Shop. Uniforms are worn to meetings weekly and on outings. Some basic camping equipment may need to be purchased but can be acquired over time.
