September – Olivia Lemke from WildSafeBC spoke to us about how to deal with wildlife in the area due to drought and fires.
October – Natalya Melnychuk, CSRD Area G Director, gave us information and answered questions about the wildfires that devastated our area; what we’ve learned and future plans.
November – Kathryn Vennard, a Salmon Arm lawyer, gave us lots of easy-to-understand information about wills and estate planning, presented in a humorous manner.
January – No guest speaker. Instead, we had a “get-to-know-you” exchange. Lots of fun!
February – Emily Bootle from DeathCare BC let us know our options for funeral planning. Her mission is to bridge the gap between health care and death care.
March – Reid Drummond, senior project manager for Integris Consulting Ltd. used the “Ford to Tappen Flyover” website to explain the Highway 1 construction project.
April – We heard about the 55+ BC Games from Rob Marshall & Bryan Kassa. Then Nico from Nico’s Nurseryland talked about the history of his garden center and gave good advice about fruit trees, pruning, fertilizers and general gardening.
May – Don Cavers, our very own Survivor, told us of his harrowing experience in 2021when his sailboat hit a reef, leaving him adrift in the Caribbean for five days before being rescued.
June – Trudy Vercholuk and Colette McBride – One to One reading program at Carlin and Sorrento Schools. Always looking for new volunteers!
