Amy Lawhead

Mrs. Amy Lawhead is the director of the LMS Honor Band and teaches double reeds, clarinet and saxophone. She is a clarinet player and woodwind specialist and has studied under Dr. Patricia Card, Dr. Mary Druhan and Dr. Scott Plugge.

Mrs. Lawhead earned her Bachelor of Music from Sam Houston State University, where she was a member of the Bearkat Marching Band, The Bearkat Basketball Band, the Symphonic Band, the Wind Ensemble and the SHSU Symphony Orchestra. She held several student leadership roles in the ensembles and managed the School of Music Recording Studio. Mrs. Lawhead also held several leadership positions in Tau Beta Sigma at SHSU. From 2002 to 2018, Mrs. Lawhead was associated with the SHSU Summer Music Camps. She began with the Music Camps as a counselor and eventually became the Camp Coordinator. Mrs. Lawhead has officially 'retired' from music camp life, but encourages her students to find a camp and learn and have fun!

In 2012, Mrs. Lawhead completed her Masters of Library and Information Sciences at The University of North Texas and in addition to being a certified music educator, Mrs. Lawhead also holds a teaching certificate for School Librarianship.

While Mrs. Lawhead is from the Houston area (go Astros!) she loves living in the DFW area (go Stars!). She makes her home with her husband, Aaron, and their handsome boys, Benjamin and Conrad. When she is not teaching, Mrs. Lawhead enjoys cooking, reading, gardening and riding her motorcycle. Mrs. Lawhead is a member of Texas Band Masters Association and the Texas Music Educators Association.

Sarah Middleton

Sarah Middleton is excited to begin her third year of teaching at Lakeside Middle School. Prior to joining Little Elm ISD, she taught at Smith Middle School in Cleburne, TX where she was the primary director of the Symphonic Band and taught all of the beginning brass classes. She is a native Texan raised in San Antonio, TX, where she attended Winston Churchill HS and played trumpet in numerous musical ensembles. In December 2016, she received her Bachelor in Music Studies with an emphasis in Instrumental Studies from Texas State University. Prior to graduation, Ms. Middleton completed her student teaching at Cedar Park HS in Leander ISD and Parmer Lane Elementary in Pflugerville ISD. During her time at Texas State, Ms. Middleton was involved in multiple concert ensembles, the jazz lab band, Bobcat Basketball band, and the Bobcat Marching Band for four years, serving as trumpet section leader for the latter two. In addition to school ensembles, Ms. Middleton performed as a member of the mellophone section with the world class Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps from Denver, CO in the summer of 2012.

Ms. Middleton will be teaching beginning Trombone, Tuba, and French Horn classes. In addition, she will be the teacher of record for the Concert Band and assist with the Honors and Symphonic Bands.

Ms. Middleton’s professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmaster's Association, and the National Association for Music Education. She is a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority and held leadership positions as alumnae chairwoman and assistant ritual chairwoman. During her free time, Ms. Middleton enjoys crafting, playing board games, and spending time with family and friends. She lives in Frisco with her cats, Jasper and Lily.

Steven Olmstead

Steven Olmstead is the teacher of record for the Lakeside Lobos Symphonic Band in Little Elm, TX. Prior to joining Little Elm ISD he was Assistant Director of Percussion for Celina ISD and Concert Band Director for Celina Junior High from 2015 to 2019. Between 2013 and 2015 he held the position of Assistant Director of Percussion and Director of the 7th Grade Band at Wills Point ISD. He started his career as the as the Head Junior High Director for Livingston Junior High in Livingston, TX. His time student teaching was spent with the Argyle band in Argyle, TX under the direction of Kathy Johnson in Fall 2012.

Mr. Olmstead holds a Bachelor’s of Music Education Degree from the University of North Texas. During his time at UNT he participated in the UNT Green Brigade Marching Band and Concert band directed by Dr. Nick Williams, the Symphonic Band conducted by Mr. Dennis Fisher, the 2 O’Clock Steel Band under Mark Ford, and various classical percussion ensembles. Furthermore, he has received semesters of private instruction from Mark Ford, Paul Rennick, Ed Soph, Christopher Deane, and She-e Wu. Mr. Olmstead performed with the UNT Gamelan Ensemble at PASIC (Percussive Arts Society International Convention) in the Spring of 2009 and with the UNT Indoor Drumline on their travels to Belgium in the spring of 2011.

Outside of the classroom, he participated in the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps in the summer of 2008 and the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps in the Summer of 2011. During this time he had a wonderful opportunity to perform with talented individuals that shared his same love for music.

He is married to his wife, Sarah Olmstead who, as a colorguard consultant and math teacher, shares in supporting fine arts, band programs, and education.
