Ensure proper set-up by contacting Lakers Hoist Service to install your equipment
Choose materials such as stainless steel and aluminum for your hoist's frame and cables to resist corrosion
Boat Size and Weight: Ensure that the hoist is rated for the size and weight of your boat. Overloading the hoist can lead to failure, so it’s crucial to select a hoist that can comfortably lift your boat
Initial Testing: After installation, test the hoist to ensure it functions properly. Check that the boat lifts evenly and smoothly and verify that the cables move freely without binding
Inspect the Dock: Before use, ensure all components are securely fastened, and check the stability by walking down dock, if unstable we recommend cross brace stabilizer poles from your docks manufacture
Water Depth: Ensure there is enough water depth at the dock for safe boat launching and docking. As a rule of thumb, a minimum depth of 3 feet is recommended for most boats, but this may vary depending on the type, size and weight of boat you own
Optimal Clearance: Ideally, you want at least 18 inches of clearance from the bottom of the dock to the water to allow for changes in water levels
Use white lithium grease to help prolong the lifetime of your cables by preventing friction and corrosion to ensure smooth operations of the hoist
Use white lithium spray lubricant on pullies to help prevent seizing caused by corrosion which in return helps prevent cable wear and fraying overtime
Regularly inspect your dock and lifts structural integrity by looking for stress fractures, bent components or corrosion after each season
Make sure your canopy is correctly sized for your boat. There should be adequate coverage to protect the entire boat from sun, rain, and debris.
Inspect your canopy frequently for any tears, rips, or wear, especially high stress areas such as the corners after rough weather conditions
If installing your canopy avoid days with high winds as this could lead to a dangerous situation as the canopy will act as a kite
If installing your canopy attempt on a warm sunny day as this will allow fabrics to expand and flex allowing for an easier installation and also help prevent stressing and damaging canopy material during installation
To prolong the life of your canopy, clean it with mild dish soap and water, then let it completely dry before storage
