Location / Transport
The Lake Mac Croquet Centre is located on the western end of Bill Bower sporting grounds at Glendale.
Access to the car park is from Main Road. This is a 2 lane divided road so you can only do a left turn into the car park entrance. The entrance is about 120 metres from the main traffic lights, just past the toilet / shower block on the No1 Oval.
If you miss that entry then you can use the exit one which is a sharp left just past the bus stop. Should you miss these entrances then there may be parking along Main Road, otherwise you will need to turn left at Frederick Street and loop back for another attempt.
If coming from the Edgeworth direction then turn right at the Frederick Street lights and loop back around to Main Road.
From the car park there is a concrete path to the croquet grounds and club house, all up about 200 metres.
There is one official accessible parking place at the clubhouse. Access it from the Frederick St service entrance.
Public Transport to the centre.
From Cardiff Railway Station on weekdays there is a No 13, 264 or 267 bus service about every 8 mins to the bus stop that is adjacent to the car park exit. For the return trip to Cardiff Railway Station the No 13 or 264 return bus departs from the opposite side of Main Road. Note that there are NO bus stops on Frederick St.
Transport options from the Toronto direction:
The 270 or 271 bus to the Glendale Shopping Centre bus terminal and then either walk to the courts, or transfer to a 13, 262, 263 or 264 bus.
Or take the 270 or 271 bus from Toronto to the last bus stop before the Glendale Roundabout. It is then a level walk (700 meters, est 10 mins) via Frederick St to the complex. There is a clearly painted median strip just past the Winding Creek bridge, but do take care crossing Frederick St as traffic can be fairly heavy at times. This route will take about 35 mins.
Or take the train from Fassifern Station to Cardiff station and then the above 13, 264 or267 bus.
Exactly which travel option is used depends very much on the arrival / departure times. Google Maps is one planning tool for this.
