One of the major initiatives of the national government under Executive Order No. 70 is the implementation of the Support to Barangay Development Program (SBDP). The SBDP aims to deliver basic services and social development projects to beneficiary barangays that need tangible government interventions due to the previous influence of Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs). The projects under the SBDP include construction of farm-to-market roads, health stations, school buildings, water and sanitation systems, rural electrification, and social services such as agricultural and livelihood trainings and projects and immediate cash assistance to individuals and families.

SBDP BACKGROUND

One of the major initiatives of the national government under Executive Order No. 70 is the implementation of the Support to Barangay Development Program (SBDP). The SBDP aims to deliver basic services and social development projects to beneficiary barangays that need tangible government interventions due to the previous influence of Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs). The projects under the SBDP include construction of farm-to-market roads, health stations, school buildings, water and sanitation systems, rural electrification, and social services such as agricultural and livelihood trainings and projects and immediate cash assistance to individuals and families.

For fiscal year 2021 and 2022, the SBDP has provided substantial funding for the priority projects of the 822 and 1,406 barangays respectively. These beneficiary barangays have undergone the Community Support Program (CSP) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) of the DILG. These programs have laid the groundwork to determine the issues and developmental gaps of the barangays for the identification of the appropriate government interventions. Some of the notable solution-seeking activities of these programs are the Serbisyo Caravan and the crafting of the enhanced barangay development plan. The programs, projects, and activities (PPAs) identified through these activities, particularly the enhancement of the barangay development plan, are now funded under the SBDP for implementation.
