General plan for the workshop
This workshop aims to be highly interactive, and while there will be presenters sharing the latest work, we encourage participants to discuss their thoughts and ideas regarding the topic of personalised feedback.
After a brief introduction and conceptualization of the workshop, there will be a series of short presentations will provide a backdrop and provocation to think about ways in which we normally provide feedback: this will consider both the typically sparse provision in Higher Education as well as the continuous provision typical of schools. We will look specifically at successful approaches, what they have in common and, most importantly, consider how students receive the feedback and do something with it (i.e. the ‘closing the loop’).
Interspersed between presentations, discussions will be guided with a semi-structured approach to discuss key themes and issues surfaced during presentations (e.g. use of data-informed feedback by students, types of feedback made possible through data, challenges of faculty professional learning, data sources needed for personalisation, etc.).
