BEGINNING. Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) began as the Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in 1967, founded by Jose C. Olivares and Dr. Vicente M. Santos in Valenzuela. Initially a health institution, it expanded into education with the College of Nursing (1973) and College of Medicine (1979), becoming a university in 2002.
Founding and Early Years (1960s–1970s)
1967: Jose C. Olivares (a Chemistry professor) and his son-in-law, Dr. Vicente M. Santos (a physician), established the Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in Valenzuela (then part of Bulacan).
1973: The institution grew into education with the creation of the Our Lady of Fatima College of Nursing.
1976: The first batch of nursing graduates attained a 100% passing rate in the Board Exams.
1979: The Fatima Medical Science Foundation, Inc. – Fatima College of Medicine was established, with its first graduates finishing in 1983.
Growth and Development (1990s–2000s)
1990s: The college expanded its academic offerings beyond health sciences, introducing programs in maritime education, computer science, education, business, and tourism.
1996: The Quezon City campus (Hilltop) was established along Regalado Avenue, expanding its reach.
December 2002: The institution was converted into Our Lady of Fatima University, with Dr. Vicente M. Santos Sr. serving as its founding president.
Expansion and Status (2008–Present)
2008: The College of Nursing was designated by CHED as a Center of Development, and the university went through IQuAME accreditation.
2009: OLFU was granted Autonomous Status by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
Expansion: OLFU has expanded its reach with additional campuses in Antipolo, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, and Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
