About our Church
We are a body of believers who are devoted to Jesus Christ and His Gospel who are assembled together in the historic and rural town of LaFayette Kentucky. Founded in 1889 our church family has a long history of ministry to our community, the people around us, and the rest of the world, God's creation. We sing traditional Hymns and our pastor preaches expositional through The Bible, God's Holy Word. We would love for you to come and visit and become part of our church family! Come just as you are, some of us dress up, some of us wear jeans, and some of us come in from just working on the farm to join us. All are welcome.
Our Mission
The mission of LaFayette Baptist Church is to be and make disciples that Love God, Love People, and Make Disciples.
Our Church Covenant
Having been led as we believe by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior and, on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirt, we do now, in the presence of God, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ.
We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit to walk together in Christian love, holiness, and comfort, to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrine; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations.
We also engage to maintain family and secret devotions; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our department; to avoid all tattling, backbiting, and excessive anger, to abstain from the sale of, and use of, intoxicating drinks as a beverage; to be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Savior.
We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember one another in prayer; to aid one another in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and Christian courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation and mindful of the rules of our Savior to secure it without delay.
We moreover engage that when we remove from this place we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other church where we carry out the spirit of this covenant and principles of God’s Word.
Pastor (or you can call him brother) Jacob was called to pastor our church in July of 2022. He and his wife Emily are new residents of Hopkinsville, KY and are enjoying seeing and learning about the Christian County community. Pastor Jacob grew up in White Bluff, TN and lived in Clarksville, TN during and after college before moving to Hopkinsville.
Before being called to the pastorate, Pastor Jacob served his church in multiple ways including: leading multiple ages of Sunday School Classes, tech ministry lead volunteer, playing percussion in the church orchestra, being active on the leadership team, being a pastoral intern, pastoral care, and many other duties. In addition he spent time that he cherished as a member of the Gideon's ministry before being called to ministry.
Pastor Jacob holds a B.S. from Austin Peay State University and a Masters of Divinity from The Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri.
In his spare time, some of our Pastor's hobbies include gardening, reading, and playing with his dogs Winston. Remus, and Joy. His life verse is John 21:15 because of Jesus's call on Peter to "feed His Lambs" which Pastor Jacob feels is very similar to His call to the ministry.
