History

DJ Sarah (aka "The PhDJ"), the company's founder, began as a college radio DJ in the spring semester of 2000 at WHBC (Howard University's student radio station). She continued DJing there until her graduation in 2003, also serving as the station's Production Manager in 2001-2002 and interning at WHUR.

Sarah took a hiatus when she began working as a classroom teacher, but resumed DJing on college radio in 2007, during her first year as a doctoral student at George Mason University.

One day at her job in 2008, a school dance DJ unexpectedly backed out of an engagement. Sarah volunteered to fill in. The experience went so well that she was asked to DJ a colleague's house party. This party (more exposure) led to more bookings, and Sarah officially began the Lady Trackmaster company.

Since then, Sarah has been contracted for over 100 events, ranging from birthday parties to clubs and everything in between.

New additions to Lady Trackmaster include longtime friends Akilah ("DJ AC") and Delana ("DJ Blue Lotus"). All three DJs have experience working in schools, with 2/3 of us being current K-12 educators; thus, we have a wide selection of music appropriate for all ages.
