A celebration of growing, gardens and community
13 - 14 June 2026
Although summer seems a long time away at the moment, we're pleased to announce the opening of our call for gardeners to take part in this year's Open Gardens - a link to the entry form is below.
As well as welcoming back seasoned veterans of the event, we always hope to see some new gardens open to the public. Opening your garden is a very rewarding experience that gives you an opportunity to talk about your garden's design and evolution - and of course the plants that are in it! The FAQ below hopefully answers some common questions - if you want to know something different just contact us.
One of the joys of the event is the enormous variety of uses that people have made of what is essentially a suburban garden, be it back or front. Visitors are always interested to see what people have done and how it has developed, perhaps picking up new ideas for their own gardens - so don't be put off by concerns your garden isn't suitable. If you have any questions then the team will be glad to help you - just get in touch via ladybayopengardens@gmail.com
Gardens are open from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. on the Saturday and the Sunday. You have to be in attendanceĀ during that time period.
No, you can open on either or both days, to suit you.
Yes, you can open your front garden by itself.
Yes, the event has public liability insurance through the Lady Bay Community Association. You should do what you can to mitigate obvious hazards - the team can help with this.
Visitors can start their visit at any of the gardens that are open, so yes, you will have to take cash payments. That having been said, there are usually some obvious starting points that are much more popular than others, so the likelihood is that this won't be an onerous task.
No. Some gardens raise money for charitable concerns by selling tea, cakes etc, but you're under no obligation to do so.
If you have any other questions at all, please get in touch with us via ladybayopengardens@gmail.com - one of the team will then get back to you.
Please complete the online entry form via the link above.
Lady Bay Open Gardens was founded in 1989 to raise funds for FIELDS, a local campaigning group that was set up to fight the threat of a 4th Trent Crossing at Adbolton, and any other threats to the green belt around Lady Bay. With FIELDS now dormant, profits from the Open Gardens are handed over to the Community Fund to assist with local worthwhile causes.
