Mehdi Rezaie

Mehdi graduated from the University of Ohio in 2021 and joined us the same year.

Various observational systematics make the interpretation of the large scale galaxy clustering patterns very difficult. Mehdi is the expert on how to deal with these kind of problems. He used state-of-the-art machine learning methods for cleaning the eBOSS and DESI data (1907.11355, 2009.02308, 2105.10463)

He is currently working on measuring primordial non-Gaussianity from the large scale structure (2106.13724, 2106.13725).

Current Students

Hanyu Zhang

Hanyu is helping with many different aspects of DESI experiment.

He is also working on number of very interesting projects that will be published soon. These include:

  • Studying the connection between galaxies and halos with the higher order statistics

  • Small scale clustering of DESI Quasars

  • Measuring cosmological parameters using small scale clustering of galaxies

Abhishek Jana

Abhishek is working on applying machine learning methods to cosmology. He trains AI to predict a number of different statistical measures of galaxy clustering.

His AbacusSummit based emulators will be used to derive cosmological constraints from small scale clustering of galaxies.

Jayashree Behere

Jayashree is working on extracting the BAO signal from the bispectrum of galaxies.

She is using theoretical and simulation based templates to extract a robust measurement of the BAO scale from future DESI data.

Former Members

David Pearson

David worked in our group in 2015-2019. He wrote four very high quality publications and GPU based computer codes that our students are still using today.

David is an assistant professor at Pittsburgh State University.

Praful Gagrani

Praful was a graduate student in our group in 2016-2018. He wrote two papers and graduated with a masters degree.

Praful is studying biophysics at Wisconsin Institute for Discovery
