Trade Roof Ladders, sometimes called roof ladders, are used to perform work on your roof safely. Roof ladders are distinct in that they have two hooks attached at the end. It provides a base from which to balance and complete work while providing a safe and convenient way for me to move up and down the roof. It attaches to a roof's peak with hooks, allowing you to secure the ladder and move me up and down easily.
EXTENSION LADDERS & ROOF LADDERS
As a roof ladder does not function as a standalone ladder, you would need an extension ladder to climb onto the roof.
Here's a tip: if your extension ladder is attached to your roof ladder using roof ladder link clamps, they'll be more secure and less likely to slide apart when you transfer from one to the other.
It's possible to push the roof ladder up the slanted roof without dislodging the roof tiles or damaging the slates. As soon as the wheels reach the top of the roof, simply flip the ladder over, and the hooks will secure the ladder securely in place.
"ALWAYS SET THE ROOF LADDER UP AS PERFECTLY AS YOU CAN AND AS EXTENSIVELY AS POSSIBLE ABOVE THE GUTTER AND INSTALL THE TWO LINK CLAMPS WHEN THE ROOF LADDER IS IN PLACE."
A ROOF LADDER CAN BE MADE FROM ANY LADDER
A universal roof hook kit turns any ladder into a roof ladder by attaching it to the top. It transforms any single section ladder or extension ladder into a roof ladder. For maintenance on your roof at home, the most cost-effective way to use a roof ladder is with a roof hook kit. It usually only takes a few seconds to install a roof hook kit.
ROOF LADDERS THAT ARE DEDICATED
Alternatively, you can purchase a roof ladder that already includes a roof hook. These typically come in both single and double sections. Choose a ladder that is large enough to reach from the eaves to the ridge of your roof by considering the overall length of the ladder.
Folding Roof ladders are becoming increasingly popular as alternatives to sectional ladders, which typically require bolting sections together to achieve the desired ladder length.
CERTIFICATION FOR ROOF LADDER
Currently, roofing ladders are not classified (but they will be in the very near future), but most ladders should be compliant with EN131. Whenever you purchase a roof hook kit, you must ensure the ladder to which you attach it meets BS EN131 standards. If you plan to use it at work, a ladder meeting EN131 professional standards are recommended.
A ROOF LADDER INSPECTION
Consider buying a roof ladder safety kit, which includes a full-body harness, rope grab, karabiner, cowstall strop, tensioning straps, ladder tie bolts, and a carrier bag, if you use roof ladders during your job or trade. Check and tag your ladders on a regular basis with Ladder Log Inspection tags, and make sure your ladders are tagged with Ladder Log Inspection tags. ALTERNATIVES TO ROOF LADDER
Furthermore, roof ladders can be used in conjunction with ladder staging systems to create roof platforms for safe roof access rather than using roof ladders. Your H&S Inspector will approve the ladder staging system as one of the safest ways to work on a roof as it is BS Edge Protection compliant.
Furthermore, there are some specialized products available, such as conservatory roof ladders that allow single individual access to clean or maintain conservatory roofs.
