Louisiana is full of loving, compassionate and kind people. During this time of social distancing, many elder and high risk members of your community are going to need assistance getting critical supplies while refraining from being in large public spaces.
It is our hope to match those of you who are under 60, at low-risk for COVID-19 and healthy with elder members and neighbors in your community who are high-risk so that you can love them through this. You can help your neighbors by picking up groceries or prescriptions, delivering a homemade meal, a book from the library or simply by checking in every couple of days.

We are preparing for the potential of a community outbreak of COVID-19 in Louisiana by identifying healthy young adults (whose risk factors are low) who are willing to be paired with an elder or an individual who is at high risk in our community in order to coordinate the delivery of essential supplies if/when needed. We also want to encourage regular check-ins with these elders by phone or other electronic means.

How You Can Help
Once a match is made, you and your match will take complete ownership of the process. The idea behind Louisiana COVID-19 Match is to connect vulnerable people to those who are at low risk for COVID-19 that are willing and able to help in this time of recommended social distancing. When you meet your match what you do and how often you do it is completely up to you.
Some Recommended Ideas:
- Call every couple of days to check in
- Offer to pick up groceries or prescriptions
- Deliver a homemade meal
- Bring your match a book from the library
- Make a homemade card
