This year, we will be immersed in the language through reading, creating original stories, watching and dissecting short videos, singing, and exploring cultural influences and customs. I am so excited to see you grow this year and hope you begin to see the world through a different lens.

How and What You Will Learn
We’ll hear tons of spoken Spanish — songs, stories, videos, and teacher-led conversation. Your job is to help make these interactions engaging by doing your 50%: listen, react, and contribute!
Class is mostly in Spanish, and you’ll be encouraged to speak daily. English will be limited. Expect to take risks, make mistakes, and grow your confidence!
You’ll respond to the Pregunta del Día, do timed free writes, and complete activities in present, past, and future tenses. Writing will be frequent and low-pressure, focused on communication, not perfection.
We’ll read often: class-created stories, lyrics, short novels, articles, and more — sometimes solo, sometimes as a group. Reading helps grow vocabulary and confidence.
Explore Spanish-speaking cultures through geography, pop culture, history, food, customs, and current events. Understanding culture helps us communicate with empathy and meaning.
Frequent, informal quizzes (some may be unannounced)
Free writes: 10-minute timed writings focused on word count & communication, not grammar
Occasional projects, unit assessments, performances, or presentations depending on the level
If absent, check Google Classroom for assignments
Late work = max 50%, and only accepted up to 2 weeks late
COMMUNICATE with me if you’re out — this is part of language learning too!
I expect:
Eyes, ears, pencils, and brains — give me your best!
No phones, no AirPods, no multitasking — be present
