2023 Summer session
acquire skills of the future:
After the conclusion of the Summer 2022 Tech Bootcamp, LACC's Economic Development and Workforce Education (EDWE) department hired two of the students from the bootcamp winning team to build EDWE digital versions of their offices in the Metaverse. Below are links to their final product:
Participating in the bootcamp will provide you with an opportunity to acquire 21st Century skills and connect with industry leaders for employment and internship opportunities as seen above.

Thursday, August 31 (6:30PM-8:30PM): In-person Demo Day on Campus
WEEKLY SCHEDULE:
Problem statements:
Team 1 (Unify):
Coach: Michael Milano, Data Visualization Developer, Artificial Intelligence and Analytics Group, Jet Propulsion Laboratory
Problem:
With complex space missions, more diverse teams are coming together from around the world to collaborate and solve them. The current means of collaborations, like video calls, can be limiting and prevent the necessary innovation from occurring. How can new forms of collaboration like AR/VR/MR help foster richer experiences that lead to breakthroughs in technology. How could you leverage the suggested technologies to help facilitate space mission operation so that teams have a more immersive experience that leads to innovation.
Goal:
Missions like Mars 2020 have diverse teams that are all over the world, and at times they need to be able to collaborate to operate the Perseverance rover and its many subsystems. Traditional means of collaboration can be limiting in how international teams can collaborate and innovate. Explore how designing and creating virtual experiences enable better and more immersive interaction between these mission operations teams by leveraging AR/VR/MR technologies.
Team 2 (Life on Mars):
Coach: Ryan Stonebraker, Data Scientist II, Artificial Intelligence, Analytics and Innovative Development Organization, Jet Propulsion Laboratory
Problem:
Scientists across the globe want to study specific regions on other planets that are too far away to physically visit. To help them study these areas both remotely and collaboratively, how can VR, AR, or MR be leveraged to allow scientists to view, take notes on, and interact with others who are also studying the same areas?
Goal:
Using Jezero Crater (the landing site of NASA’s Mars 2020 Perseverance Rover) as a target area, build an immersive simulated environment that allows users to free roam and explore the crater, mark specific regions of interest with notes, and communicate with each other in-situ.
