About LACBEE
This annual conference brings together faculty working in Behavioral and Experimental Economics at Liberal Arts Colleges. Inspired by the successful LACDEV and Liberal Arts Macro conferences, this gathering serves to establish research and mentoring networks, as well as provide opportunities to discuss the teaching of experimental and behavioral topics.
The sixth in-person Liberal Arts College Behavioral and Experimental Economics (LACBEE) workshop will be hosted at Colby College in Waterville, Maine on June 2-24, 2026. Previous iterations of the workshop were hosted by Carleton College in 2022, Haverford and Swarthmore Colleges in 2023, Colorado College in 2024, and Middlebury College in 2025.
Announcement and Registration
The organizing committee is excited to host this year's LACBEE at Colby College in Waterville, Maine on Tuesday, June 23 and Wednesday, June 24. We plan to have an optional pre-conference workshop geared toward junior faculty on Tuesday morning. This workshop will include informal panel discussions of issues especially relevant to pre-tenure scholars. Potential topics include the tenure process, grant writing and starting a research program. The conference will begin with lunch that day and conclude on Wednesday afternoon. There will be no registration fee, and we expect most meals will be covered.
Please fill out this form by April 1. We're using it to gauge interest in attending, collect paper submissions for presentations, and get a sense of interest in participation in conference related activities. A formal registration will follow once the program takes shape.
Submitting a paper? Include your title and abstract directly on the form. As in past years, we welcome work at all stages — we particularly encourage early-stage submissions. If you want to present a project but are not yet sure of a title, go ahead and submit a working title now and you can change it later during the registration (TBA is an acceptable title!). Nudge to junior folks: this is a great opportunity to get expert feedback on your design or pilot results before committing to a full round of data collection.
New this year — Adopt a Paper: We're coordinating an opportunity for new(ish) faculty to receive structured feedback on a paper draft from a senior scholar. Please indicate your interest in participating on the form.
Logistics: A block of rooms is available at the Lockwood Hotel for the nights of June 22 and 23 at approximately $169/night + tax, bookable here through May 23, 2026. Waterville is roughly a 3-hour drive from Boston and about an hour from both Bangor International Airport (BGR) and Portland International Jetport (PWM). As the conference approaches, we'll collect flight information and attempt some light coordinating to minimize the number of cars and rideshares we have to rent to get from the airports to Colby. So feel free to hold off on renting a car for now.
