This annual conference brings together faculty working in Behavioral and Experimental Economics at Liberal Arts Colleges. Inspired by the successful LACDEV and Liberal Arts Macro conferences, this gathering serves to establish research and mentoring networks, as well as provide opportunities to discuss the teaching of experimental and behavioral topics.
The fourth "in-person" Liberal Arts College Behavioral and Experimental Economics (LACBEE) workshop, which will be hosted by Colorado College on August 1-2, 2024. Previous iterations of the workshop were hosted by Colorado College in 2019, Carleton College in 2022, and Haverford and Swarthmore Colleges in 2023.
The workshop will include both research presentations and mentoring discussions. We especially encourage participants to bring their early-to-mid-stage work that would most benefit from input. For example, it may be a great idea to get focused feedback on an experimental design before you start running sessions.
Please use this submission form to sign up to present your research by June 15. All participants should register here before July 3.
The exact schedule will depend on the number of attendees, but the schedule will look something like:
Wednesday, July 31: 5:00 pm welcome reception (optional)
Thursday, August 1: Full day of sessions followed by dinner and social time
Friday, August 2: Optional early morning hike followed by sessions ending mid to late afternoon
Participants can fly into either the Colorado Springs airport (COS, about 20 minutes from campus) or the Denver airport (DEN, about 90 minutes from campus).
We encourage people to book a hotel room at the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown Colorado Springs (1 mile from campus). A group rate of $189 per night is available using the link above or using the code LACBEE. The hotel will offer this rate to visitors for two days before and/or after the conference if you would like to extend your trip to Colorado. You must book your room by July 3 to make use of the group rate.
We may also be able to find inexpensive on-campus lodging options if enough people are interested. Let us know by email or through the registration form if you would like more information about on-campus lodging.
There will be no registration fee for the workshop. Light breakfasts, coffee, and lunches will be provided. Participants should expect to pay for their own lodging, transportation, and dinners.
We hope to see you in August!
