Becoming a Patroller
Interested in joining the Labrador Mountain Ski Patrol?
Serving on the National Ski Patrol (NSP) is a fun and rewarding way to enjoy the sports of skiing and snowboarding. Becoming a member of NSP means providing service and safety in an environment that you already love and forming lasting friendships. You will learn and refine first responder medical and rescue skills unique to ski patrolling. Through NSP’s partnerships, you will also have access to the best outdoor products, from the best outdoor brands at the lowest possible prices.
We are continually adding new patrollers to our team at Labrador Mountain and are happy to answer questions about the training process to provide both Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) and Outdoor Emergency Transport (OET). OEC training usually starts in late August and runs until December. OET usually starts in late December or early January and runs for about 6 weeks. We accept applications to join each year Patrol until August but we would love to chat with you at any time.
One common question is whether joining NSP requires prior medical or health care training. The answer is no; we have members with a wide variety of backgrounds. Also, you do not need to be an expert skier/snowboarder but should be capable of confidently navigating all areas of the mountain. We are looking especially for people who enjoy the camaraderie of working as a team and who find it personally rewarding to help others.
