Hi, I’m Avni, a student at Tompkins High School and the founder of The Learning Lab. I started The Learning Lab because I noticed something missing in the way students are taught. While teachers work hard, they have to focus on the entire class, not the individual. As a result, some students don’t get the support they need to fully understand the material. Outside tutoring isn’t always the solution either. Many tutors haven’t experienced the school system or curriculum firsthand, so they struggle to connect with what students are actually learning. That’s where The Learning Lab is different. Our tutors are high-achieving high school students who’ve taken the same classes, sometimes even with the same teachers, and know exactly how to help.
