도시공간계획 및 개발 연구실 (USPD Lab)은 시∙공간의 물리적 환경 분석을 통해 환경, 에너지, 국민보건, 도시활성화 등 도시 및 비도시 공간에서 일어나는 이러한 현상의 원인을 찾고 나아가 그 해결책을 제시하는데 그 연구목적을 두고 있다. 도시의 물리적 형태로서의 개발방식은 도시 내 인간활동, 대기오염 및 열환경과 같은 여러 물리적 현상에 영향을 미친다. 본 연구실은 다양한 규모의 도시형태를 계량화하며 이를 통해 이론에 기반한 여러 공간현상으로의 영향력에 관해 알아본다. 또한, USPD Lab은 대기오염, 지역 열환경, 풍속, 도시성장모형과 같은 시∙공간 예측모형 개발을 수행한다. 이러한 연구를 위해 USPD Lab에서는 공간빅데이터 기반 공간 통계모형과 기계학습/딥러닝 기법을 활용한다.

Through analyzing urban and non-urban spatial environments, the Urban Spatial Planning and Development Lab (USPD Lab) aims to find the causes of phenomena that occur in urban and non-urban spaces, such as environment, energy, public health, and urban revitalization, and further suggests solutions. The urban development ways as urban physical forms influence several physical phenomena such as human activities, air pollution, and thermal environment within the city. This laboratory quantifies urban forms at various scales, then investigates the influence of various spatial phenomena based on theory. In addition, the USPD Lab establishes spatio-temporal prediction models such as air pollution, regional thermal environment, wind speed, and urban growth models. For this research, USPD Lab utilizes spatial statistical models and machine learning/deep learning techniques based on spatial big data.
