1. Overview LabelScan ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy. Our application is designed to be Offline First and Privacy-Focused. We do not require you to create an account, and we do not collect, store, or share your personal data on our servers.
2. Data Collection and Usage
Personal Information: We do not collect names, email addresses, or phone numbers. No account creation is required to use the app.
Scanned Data: The text scanned from food labels using the camera is processed locally on your device using on-device technology (Google ML Kit). Images and text extracted are not sent to any external server and are discarded immediately after processing.
Preferences: Your settings (e.g., list of allergens to avoid) are stored locally on your device's internal storage. We do not have access to this data.
3. App Permissions The app requires the following permissions to function:
Camera: Used strictly for scanning food labels in real-time. No images are taken or stored without your explicit action, and they are never uploaded to the cloud.
4. Third-Party Services We use the following third-party services to ensure the app functions correctly:
Google Play Services & ML Kit: Used for the text recognition technology. These services run on-device but may collect diagnostic data (crash logs) in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.
RevenueCat (If applicable): Used to process subscription purchases. No personal data is shared by us, but transaction data is handled by the Google Play Store securely.
5. Children’s Privacy Our service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.
