Senior Pastor Job Description:
EDUCATION: The successful candidate will have seminary training with a Masters of Divinity preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Experience of at least six years of professional pastoral experience is preferred. Experience serving in a church with multiple pastoral staff members is preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will assume a range of responsibilities in the following areas, including, but not limited to:
1. Leadership/Discipleship
The successful candidate will train and empower staff and lay leaders to lead in their ministry-respective areas. Have a discipleship and spiritual growth focus within the church so church members are empowered to reach out individually to the unchurched in the area.
Equip the saints for the work of the ministry.
Lead and demonstrate effective ways to witness.
Lead the body in effective programs to carry out the Great Commission.
Ensure members of the body unable to attend services are visited and ministered to.
The church desires a dynamic preacher who presents in God’s Word at an intermediate level and applies Biblical teaching to real-world applications the members of the body are facing individually and collectively.
Plan, coordinate, and/or conduct regular services involving worship, sermons, and observances of ordinances.
Provide or arrange for Biblical counseling, weddings and funerals.
Work with church officers, deacons, and the various committees to carry out the mission and
Oversee Associate Pastors (currently 4)
Oversee, along with the Deacons, issues dealing with conflict or discipline.
Clearly and effectively communicate with the body through various means.
Have a working familiarity with the application of technology to the advancement of ministry.
Coordinate with associational and state leadership.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated, and continue to demonstrate, the fruits of the Spirit as found in Galatians 5:22-26 as well as the requirements of overseers as found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7.
