We are looking for highly enthusiastic researchers interested in joining the SEED Lab in the Department of Safety Engineering at Pukyong National University. The SEED Lab focuses on Human Factors, Ergonomics, and Human-Machine Interaction topics in different application areas, including automated vehicles, VR/AR/MR, supervisory control system, etc.

부경대학교 안전공학과 인간공학 연구실 (SEED Lab)은 아래의 연구 주제에 관심 있는 학부생 인턴 및 대학원생을 모집합니다. 

• 인간-기술 상호작용으로 인한 휴먼에러 도출 및 솔루션 개발

• 정보처리 이론 기반 기계 시스템의 인터페이스 개발

• 기술에 대한 인간의 신뢰 양성 과정 분석을 통한 인간 심리 모델링

연구 수행 내용

• 국/내외 문헌 조사 수행

• VR/AR/MR 기기를 사용한 사용자 실험 및 시나리오 설계

• 시뮬레이터를 사용하여 사용자 대상 실험 수행

• 설문지 데이터 코딩 및 생리학적 데이터 처리 및 분석

• 통계 및 데이터 시각화 소프트웨어를 사용한 데이터 분석

• 국내/해외 유관 학회에서 연구 결과 발표 (최소 연 1회)

• 학술지 게재 논문 집필 및 투고 (일반대학원생은 최소 연 1회)

Master Student Opening (Now Closed)

We are looking for one or two MS students. The students will focus on a research project: 1) exploring determinant factors influencing vulnerable road users’ attitude toward external human-machine interfaces (eHMIs) of automated vehicles; and 2) designing eHMIs and investigating its influences on the behavior and attitude of road users using VR/AR/MR simulators and physiological data acquisition systems.

# Desired Applicant Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Psychology, Computer Science, or related fields

• Prior human-subjects research experience

• Strong research interests in Human Factors and Ergonomics research and career

• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English

• Programming skills (e.g., R, Python, Unity, etc)

• Eagerness and openness to learn and collaborate with others

• Strong willingness to learn Korean

# Responsibilities

• Conduct literature reviews

• Design experiments and scenarios using VR/AR/MR devices

• Recruit human participants for experiments

• Execute human-subjects experiments using simulator

• Code questionnaire data and process physiological data (e.g., eye movement)

• Analyze data using appropriate statistical and data visualization software

• Disseminate research findings in professional conferences

• Prepare papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals

• Collaborate with researchers in interdisciplinary projects

Post-Doctoral Researcher Opening (Available for Only Brain Pool Program)

# Minimum Qualifications

• Ph.D. Degree in Industrial Engineering, Psychology, Computer Science, Safety Engineering, or related fields

• Research interests in Human Factors, Ergonomics, Safety Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, and Data Science

• Prior human-subjects research experience 

• Code questionnaire data and process physiological data (e.g., eye movement)

• Analyze data using appropriate statistical and data visualization software

• Minimum Two SCI(SICE/SSCI) journal paper records

# Desired Qualifications

• Oral and written fluency in English

• Experience in data collection (user experiment, survey, interview, etc.)

• Strong background in statistical analysis or data analytics

• Strong background in programming (e.g., R, Python, Unity, etc)

# Offers & Conditions

• The position title can be a Research Assistant Professor and the candidates will get paid by the university or national scholarship program depending on the qualifications.

• The position starts from a 1-year contract, and there is a possibility to be extended depending on academic performance.

• The annual salary is calculated based on work experience and qualifications, taking into account their relevance to the field of research.

• If you are eligible to apply for the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRFK)' Brain Pool program, I will apply for the program with the candidate. It is a prestigious program for a postdoc-level. If you get accepted, you can get a minimum salary of more than KRW 5,000,000 per month.

• You can get monetary incentives based on the submission and publication of SCI(SICE/SSCI) journal papers.
