Instrumentation - Diffuse Optics to Probe Optical Properties of Biological Tissues
Main interests: Physicist, with interest in light-matter interaction, with focus on measuring the optical properties of biological tissues. Project: measure and analyze these properties using Spatially-Resolved Diffuse Transmittance (SRDT), with Monte Carlo simulations and phantoms experiments.
Main interests: Electronics and Telecom. Engineering student with interests in diffuse optics and artificial intelligence applied in the health sciences. Project: Development of the Probe and the Photodetection Circuit of a Spatially-Resolved Diffuse Reflectance System for the Characterization of Optical Properties of Biological Tissues.
Main interests: Electronics and Telecom. Engineering student interested in diffuse optics and artificial intelligence for the health sciences. Project: Development of the Laser Driver and the Control Circuit of a Spatially-Resolved Diffuse Reflectance System for the Characterization of Optical Properties of Biological Tissues.
Treatment and Diagnosis of Pigmented Skins
Main interests: Bachelor of Physiotherapy, a specialist in photobiomodulation (PBM) and other light-based treatments. Project: Analysis of Light-Biological Tissue Interactions in Different Skin Types. Nowadays, some laser treatments can cause adverse effects on highly pigmented/dark skin. We aim to afford safe treatments for all skin types.
Former Students
César worked on the development of instrumentation and software to control an LED array in a Holographic Microscope. He also contributed to a dual-channel microendoscope designed for the visualization of cells in mucosal regions, such as the oral cavity.
Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, worked on multiple projects in this lab., responsible for the development of a software interface for a multispectral system, a microcontroller system, and a holographic microscope.
Bruno worked on the development of a hyperspectral imaging system for biological tissues, capable of acquiring maps of oxyhemoglobin and deoxyhemoglobin maps (saturation maps) of healthy skin and skin lesions in mice.
Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, developed a project on a dual-channel fluorescence microendoscope for cellular visualization. Lucas worked on the printed circuit boards (PCBs) and assembled the optical parts.
