Nominees to the Council should have significant experience with the LA Model. The following are guidelines for Council members.
Council members should:
be from one or more of the following groups:
instructors with substantial experience integrating LAs in their courses;
members of the LA Program leadership team at their institution;
members of a professional society that promotes the use of LAs as an educational change model;
independent consultants with broad knowledge of LA Programs and interests in research/development/evaluation of LA Programs;
have played key roles in starting, growing, and/or sustaining an LA Program at their institution (at department or at program levels) or have knowledge of how diverse institutions have started and sustained their LA Programs
have connected with and provided expertise or resources to other LA Programs or faculty using LAs within their region or beyond
have participated in several International LA Conferences and/or Regional LA Workshops, which provide a sense of scope and diversity of LA Programs across the LAA
Members of the Council:
attend quarterly LC meetings (virtual or in person);
participate actively in LC work by serving on one of the three committees: Professional Development Committee, Resources Committee, Communications Committee. These committees meet weekly to monthly, depending on current needs;
facilitate sessions and participate in evaluation and planning efforts at the International LA Conference in Boulder, CO annually;
assess, inform, and guide the management, resource, research, and intellectual needs and priorities of the LAA;
network with other LC members and build a collegial working relationship that contributes to consensus;
serve on the LC for 2 years (student) or 3 years (non-student).
