La historia de Lu
Luciana tiene 33 años, nació y creció en Argentina, es una viajera apasionada y compañera fiel que siempre tiene una mirada dulce en su rostro. A pesar de los desafíos que ha enfrentado, ha mantenido su espíritu optimista y su sonrisa contagiosa, siempre nos hace sentir liviano aquello que parece pesado. Lu tiene la fuerza de un elefante y la suavidad de una mariposa, quienes tenemos la fortuna de conocer su corazón bien de cerquita aprendemos mucho de su valentía, su coraje, su sensibilidad y su potencia.
Lu fue diagnosticada con cáncer de mama de grado 3 en Septiembre de 2021, casi un año después de su llegada a Costa Rica, país del que se enamoró en su afán de querer conocer el mundo. Afortunadamente el tipo de cáncer que ella tenía podía ser parte de un estudio que realizaba el Hospital Metropolitano junto con investigadores de Estados Unidos, que cubrieron todos los gastos del tratamiento y llevaron a Lu a tomar la decisión de permanecer en Costa Rica hasta terminarlo. Después de un intenso proceso de quimioterapia, radioterapia y una operación exitosa en abril de 2022, fue recuperando fuerzas y vitalidad.
Inesperadamente, en Abril de este año recibimos la noticia de que el cáncer había regresado, pero esta vez en algunas de sus vértebras, costillas y una parte del hueso parietal en el cráneo. La invasión fue tan fuerte que una de sus vértebras no soportó el peso del cuerpo y se aplastó, comprometiendo el canal medular, lo que le produjo mucho dolor. A principios de Mayo fue necesaria una cirugía de urgencia para estabilizar la zona y que vuelva a recuperar su movilidad.
Este nuevo cáncer necesita un tratamiento diferente al anterior y por protocolo ya no puede formar más parte del estudio que financiaba los servicios de salud, por lo que a partir de ahora, todos los gastos económicos corren por su cuenta.
Actualmente, ella está en recuperación y período post-operatorio. Se siente agotada, con poca energía y necesita empezar su nuevo tratamiento lo antes posible, con la ayuda y el amor de todos nosotros para superar este momento.
Es por eso que hoy somos su voz en esta causa que nos convoca en red, para aliviar las cargas de este extenso y costoso proceso. Necesitamos recaudar $20,000 (USD) para cubrir el costo de la radioterapia y ayudar a su familia con algunos gastos operativos.

Luciana is 33 years old, born and raised in Argentina, a passionate traveler and faithful companion who always has a sweet look on her face. Despite the challenges she has faced, she has maintained her optimistic spirit and her contagious smile, always making us feel light what seems heavy. Lu has the strength of an elephant and the softness of a butterfly, those of us who are fortunate enough to know her heart very closely learn a lot from her bravery, her courage, her sensitivity and her power.
Lu was diagnosed with grade 3 breast cancer in September 2021, almost a year after her arrival in Costa Rica, a country she fell in love with in her eagerness to see the world. Fortunately the type of cancer she had could be part of a study being conducted by the Metropolitan Hospital along with researchers from the United States, which covered all the expenses of the treatment and led Lu to make the decision to stay in Costa Rica until it was finished. After an intense process of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and a successful operation in April 2022, she was recovering strength and vitality.
Unexpectedly, in April of this year we received the news that the cancer had returned, but this time in some of her vertebrae, ribs and a part of the parietal bone in the cranium. The invasion was so strong that one of her vertebrae could not support the weight of the body and was crushed, compromising the spinal canal, which caused her a lot of pain.
At the beginning of May, emergency surgery was necessary to stabilize the area so that he could regain his mobility.
This new cancer requires a different treatment than the previous one and by protocol she can no longer be part of the study that financed the health services, so from now on, and all the medical expenses and bills will be paid by her.
She is currently in recovery and post-operative period. She feels exhausted, with little energy and needs to start her new treatment as soon as possible, with the help and love of all of us to overcome this moment.
That is why today we are her voice in this cause that calls on us to network, to ease the burdens of this extensive and costly process. We need to raise $20,000 (USD) to cover the cost of radiation therapy and help his family with some operating expenses.
