The L-Cubic (L3) Lab is a cross-disciplinary and cross-regional research group led by Chihua Li (University of Macau), Mingxuan Liu (University of Macau), and Peiyi Lu (University of Hong Kong). Bringing together expertise from public health, communication, and social work, the lab focuses on advancing research in healthy aging, public health, and digital inclusion.
Our work is primarily quantitative, leveraging diverse data sources and rigorous methodologies to understand and address real-world challenges at the intersection of health and technology. The lab’s name, “L-Cubic” or “L3,” originated from a lighthearted moment during a research meeting, when we realized the shared initial of our surnames often led to playful confusion in pronunciation. It has since come to represent our core values: Learn, Love, and Limitless—a spirit that guides our research, collaboration, and mentorship.
June, 2026 We will present our paper, "Mapping News Desertification: Media Ecology, Spatial Heterogeneity, and Local News in China," at the 76th Annual Conference of the International Communication Association, Cape Town, South Africa. Our paper received the Top Paper Award.
